How much time each week do you spend on facebook and other social networking sites?
With the rise in social networking sites they have developed into a place where a lot of time can be spent each week. Personally, I find I now consider using them to be something I do on a regular basis both for personal and for business reasons.
How about you? Do you use social networking sites? How much?
Please share how you use them with us.

I haven't used Facebook at all and only signed up because you (Michael) were so evangelical about it. Clearly, you see it as the way forward, and if you're right it'll be really exciting, but I'm still withholding judgement until I've seen what it has to offer to the online gambling community (apart from upsetting each other! Sorry, couldn't resist.)

Regardless of the category, my answer is simply "too much" - I get addicted to that kind of thing.

I have just got started with this, I attempted 4 times to get facebook but to no avail, I have set up at APCW and found that it is a time sucker, I spent way too much time there. I guess like any good thing, moderation is the key. I guess I will have to schedule it like all the other tasks I have.

I am not spending more than 2 hours a week now, but I hope to increase it steadily because I think these networks give you plenty of idea and interesting contacts which you would never have otherwise.

I was getting Addicted
I was getting addicted, but have slowed down.
I was getting about 20-30 emails a day, until i realised there was a way to turn off the notifications.. I am starting to use Facebook and Stumble upon to see if i can use them for marketing.. Seems like it might bring me a few members..Lets hope so!

Less than 2 hours a week, and I think it's too much for a social network, I think it's better to spend this time on forums, I don't see how social network can help me to develop my business.

I hear that.
I don't have a clue what they are and never heard of it until Mr C brought it up.
Mr C: you seem to know more about it than anybody. Is this an area where a webmaster that needs to get their site off the ground would be wise to invest time or would they be wiser to invest their time in the pursuit of SEO?
I guess that's a loaded question since you can't predict the future but you might be able to look at that social networking and tell us if you think it will be something we have to know or just passing fad?

Today I think it is much easier for someone that does not know how to build social networking applications to get results for SEO related work.
But there is real opportunity to generate revenue in the social network environments.
But, in the not-to-distant future, there will be applications that portal webmasters will be able to use to increase their revenue through social networks. And I think the effort required to make use of them will make using them something that should be done by virtually every portal webmaster.
We're going to be announcing the initial phases of what we are doing on that front at CAC Amsterdam.

My answer is: More than seven hours but not more than ten hours a week.
In the begining I spent way to much time at facebook, but lately I've weened myself off gradually. lol
I'm looking forward to the announcement at CAC Amsterdam. I'm seeing 'socal networking' articals/information popping up more and more these days.
