How often do you watch APCW Perspectives videos?

The APCW perspectives videos have been published every week for over two years, and starting this week they are now being published twice a week on Tuesday and Friday.

So, this week I thought it would be interesting to ask members here how often they watch the videos. Where on the scale from watching every episode to never watching any do you fall?

They are the most widely watched videos of their type right now (there were over one million views of APCW Perspectives videos in the past year), but we want to continue to work to make them even better. The switch we just made to high quality video on Youtube is one step we've taken on that front this week. Let us know your suggestions. Should they be longer? shorter? Are they too serious now? Would you like us to cover different material than we currently cover? We value your suggestions!

I never used to watch them but I do now. The reason I didn't was because I was on dial-up because of the area I live in. It takes forever to load them on dialup. I now have an air card and watch them regularly. I like the new format and I think you guys do a great job.

I do have one suggestion. Since I occasionally have to use dial up I would like to see a text version available for those of us stuck in the stone age.

To be honest I watch them weekly ever since APCW provided a link here. I find them very informative leaving me envious.

I have been watching the videos faithfully since mid last year, I think it was after I set up an account at APCW. I will add I would forget if not for the email alert I get.

As far as being to serious, I think J.Todd has the personality to add a humourous twist to any situation. Although he has calmed down from the dog shaving days, the videos are lively and hold interest. (and you never know when he will break into a KY dance lol).

Life is too serious, and he has a way of delivering quality information that keeps your interest. If I want dead pan news I'll turn on the TV TYVM.

My only concern is having enough content to maintain a 2x/week show and not be redundant.

    The new opening is great!

Keep up the great work! I don't surf U-Tube but this is a do not miss video week after week!

I usually catch it once or twice a month but when I do I check out the other shows. Looking forward to the videos for 09 but hopefully with more positive news in place

I watch every show - and have done so for the last year - it was usually released Saturday morning my time and became a regular watch in that slot.

The 9-10 minute length is perfect, meaning that it can be viewed easily in one sitting - and even in a slow week JTodd can present the info with a new spin that keeps us entertained as well as informed.

I don't care at all about the video format (Hi-Def v normal) as it usually runs in a small window anyway and I never noticed any detrimental quality.

I'm a little surprised that the show has moved to twice a week - I guess it reflects a full-time focus? But a bit of a "tough ask" to manage long term - and I think that it will be harder to pull off and maintain the same level of newsworthy infotainment.

I'll try to catch every show - but I suspect that I'll miss some of the Tuesday shows without thinking about it - and will end up watching two shows on a Saturday morning.

Top quality work guys and gals.

I used to watch them regularly but stopped for a while because I just felt it had gotten a bit "ad-heavy". However, I watched this week's and thought it was much more like it used to be and I am officially back! You ca't argue that JT missed his vocation as a TV presenter

I only started watching them recently, after attending the G2E in Vegas last year. I find them really interesting so always watch them now. I think they are great! The way they are presented is superb and I like the new look, especially now they have fewer ads (which I just fast forward through...)

I think that for me, the videos could hold even more appeal if they had a few more features relevant (and useful) to our day to day work as affiliates

Perhaps reviews of affiliate software systems? - highlighting positives and negatives about them (maybe in the vein of 'two good two bad' from Match of the Day, if anyone knows it?) - such features could help the programs improve by highlighting where they could improve (to help the program being reviewed improve) and what they are doing right (so other programs can see what affiliates are liking and pull themselves up in quality).

Probably loads of other features could enhance the appeal of the videos too - brief interviews from affiliate managers, so we can put faces to names?

Same here. I don't watch each of them as I used to do, but I do watch most of them.

I have watched most episodes since the beginning of PW. I am always entertained and it isn't just another boring TV broadcast. JT, even when broadcasting breaking news, is entertaining to watch.

I'll keep watching and, yes, I noticed less advertising as well. Not a bad move, IMO, but there was always enough info there to keep me informed and watching.

I catch most every one and have for the last year and a half or so. Quite enjoyable to watch and always appreciated.

I also am one to wonder though if the two a week can last.

    Hello all...

I didn't know about this thread until this evening. To be honest, I am so overwhelmed these days that I just can't keep up with everything, so I thank you Michael for posting this and then telling me about it tonight!

I am very humbled and thankful for all the comments on here. When I lost all my affiliate websites in 2006 I worried my days in this industry were over, but thank God I found a way to survive... and now, I feel blessed to get to do something like this, have fun, and provide a service for all you wonderful people. Honestly, some of the best and brightest I've ever met.

    ===========================================

Now all that said, I am taking notes on how to proceed in the future. We realized there were too many ads, but before the merger we really needed to survive. With the videos going to two-a-week, we were trying to create a overall format & opening sequence to get to the news quicker. This will also mean just one commercial per week in most cases.

Also, don't worry about enough content. Since the videos will be shorter we will only cover what's going on right then and you'll get updates quicker. If the videos need to be 10 minutes that's fine... but if there's only 4 minutes worth of news that's ok too.

    ===========================================

Here are a few other things we are considering... if you want to provide feedback:

    1) While keeping both videos for players and webmasters, perhaps run alternating features which appeal to one group on Tuesdays and the other on Fridays.

    2) Providing more features from Casino City and GPWA staff so it's not just me talking for the whole show... week after week.

    3) Providing a feedback phone line to comment on stories, and we could even include those in the videos as well.

We're open to all suggestions... thanks!

How about interviewing one or the webmaster during CAP Euro in London. That could be interesting.

Agreed, Webmaster interviews would be entertaining.

I'd like to see a little less focus on the US and UIGEA. I know it's a huge issue that has to be mentioned and I do like to be kept updated but there is life after UIGEA so a little less focus would be good.

Other than that, keep up the good work. I watch every week and find them entertaining as well as informative!!

I can't say that I've watched every episode, but I've certainly caught the majority of them.

    JTodd, some feedback:

    1) I personally prefer the multi-perspective approach. I would likely focus in on the affiliate episodes more often and miss some valuable insight within the player community.

    2) We all know you're the star of the show! but moving episodes up twice a week, I think we understand that you can't be all places all the time! Some supporting content can be valuable.. but watch out for Becs.. she might love the camera spotlight ;p jk

I also have to agree with Doolally. The industry has been consistently growing globally and there are many of issues to cover outside of the US that present both opportunities and threats from marketing to legal prospectives. This could be a good opportunity work in #2 as well!

    Cheers

I think J Todd is a brilliant presenter.
