    I need a mentor!

I've just read a post on another forum where the guy had a 2 month old gambling website, and couldn't get more than 200 visitors a day. My site is 3 years old, has 250-odd pages of content, get updated 2-3 times a week, I have spent thousands on SEO, and it has 1 or 2 visitors a day. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG???? I think I need a mentor, as I am basically wasting my time at the moment, and in case you can't tell from the above, I am frustrated beyond belief. I'm more than happy to share revenue with someone.

You should definately be getting more than 1 or 2 a day. I can understand your frustration.

I'm no expert by any means, but I would re-look at your keywords maybe for starters.

Hope that helps even a little.

I have a site similar to your in that way..and i know why too. Its exactly what mojo said - they keywords its targeting... what i am doing is heading straight for long tail combos.

Check out sem rush, keyword tools - get away from high value keywords it will be next to impossible to rank for unless you put in hundreds of thousands of dollars.

I have done this and its starting to work.

A few pointers to start you off on your home page.

I think you may find that more content would help your front page and I'd also make your title tag shorter and more concise.

The banner for Titan also seems not to be working and I'm not sure if it's this or not but the page doesn't seem to finish loading. It's obviously waiting to load something else and never getting to the end.

This may or may not help a little but it's certainly doing you no favours in the SEO department.

What grem said! I can vouch for these guys, as my site was around 2 years old and heading no where. I was too frustrated. They have been helping over 6 months now, and basically the results showed after the first 3, and I was even able to attend an affiliate conference and meet them in person, grem too :P

You will see progress fast I am sure, as your site has the age and the content, and it's not like starting from scratch. If you are going to be mentored, I suggest you pick a small number of people to listen to, as you might get a lot of suggestions from different people and occasionally they will contradict. It's not that any of them is wrong, but people have just different ways of achieving something.

Other than that, the forum and its members are always here to help . Good luck with your website, although soon or later you will find out luck has nothing to do with it . PM me if you need more info and what you can expect.

sorry arthurm, but there is no way that even basic SEO has been done, not to the following page anyway.

    for example xxhttp://www.reviewonlinecasinos.co.uk/beginners-guide-to-online-slots.php

See the META tags - name="description" and name="keywords" - they're empty on this page. Plus the title tag is just the site Domain name and not what the page is about.

Some pages have excessive keywords like 888 Review for example.

here is a picture - see the meta tag for description in the pic below
    the content="" is empty

    Name: casinoreview.jpg
Views: 152
Size: 171.3 KB

Also when I first visited your site it took a long time to load in IE, more than 2.5-3 seconds, I usually don't hang around if the site takes too long to load.

in Fire Fox it timed out with a Gateway 504 error the first time and then worked there after.

In Google Chrome it loaded ok and in Safari for Windows took about 2-3 seconds.
It could just have been my Internet connection though or it could have been the yola.net site being busy.

However, if this is the case that might explain the lack of visitors. They abandon.

I just tried to visit the Red flush review it took forever to go there and finally coughed up this error messge.

    504 Gateway Time-out
The server didn't respond in time.

my best guess is yola.net is slow
    anyone else see this problem?

Get the META tags filled out and see if there really is a loading problem and you'll get visitors.

Just one small point about the META tag, I donīt think itīs necessarily a bad thing not to have them there. I know many people say "use it, canīt hurt" and I guess theyīre right but I havenīt used them for as far back as I can remember. Hasnīt hurt me, as far as I know and Google hasnīt used it since I was a baby.

the site took more time to load here

What makes your site special over hundreds of other casino portals that review casinos?

This site looks like a banner and link farm. Why should the user choose your site over someone else? Are they here to learn something, are you helping them make a better decision on where to gamble, are you giving them any incentives? Start here than build up your website.

    grem,

    grem,
I agree that loading time is an issue, possibly the biggest issue, so I'm now looking at getting UK hosting, and transferring the lot to a Wordpress site or similar. (Anyone know the least painful way to do this?) As for it being something different from other casino portals, I'm looking to get a tiny piece of a big market, and have built up the best site I can, in the time I have around a regular job, with game reviews, gambling tips etc, and with 250+ pages, I don't beleive it's a 'banner farm'.
Thanks for the earlier post suggesting affiliatebible.com, they look very useful.

Google takes a snippet if its not there but I thought I read somewhere long ago that some of the other directories and seach engines used them, maybe that has changed now.

I know I had to put a line of code in one of my pages to tell Google not to use the DMOZ listing snippet anymore as it was no longer valid. Off hand I can't remember if it was my retail site or the gambling site.

but this is what Google says about them

If this is the site you are talking about: www.reviewonlinecasinos.co.uk

    Some observations:
    * the site seems to have a very healthy trust and authority
    * site is ranking #1 in google.co.uk for "review online casinos" (from here)
    * idem #143 for "online casinos"
    * site is loading slow indeed
    * title should not be more than about 70 characters
    * site has thousands and thousands of backlinks, but 90% is nofollowed???? from arguable origin
    * most used phrase in anchor text of backlinks is "online casinos"

    in essence a good website,
i wouldn't target "online casinos" anymore....

hope this is of any help and keep on the fight!
