For those of you hoping Illinois will pass proposed online gaming legislation this year, don't hold your breath. The governor doesn't like the idea. And he's a big time skeptic. The money quote from Quinn via NPR (

“I think that’s problematic. It’s a brand new idea and there hasn’t been much review on that at all. Anytime you have something brand new it shouldn’t just be thrown into a bill at the last minute.”
Quinn isn't shy about holding a tough line on gaming expansion in Illinois. He's already vetoed a few measures that would have brought a casino to Chicago. But it looks like he's finally warming up to that idea, especially since the legislature has tweaked their proposal to meet his concerns.

So don't rule online gaming out of Illinois' future. Just know it likely won't happen this year.
