I have found this very important news at The Telegraph, which I am sharing with you all...

Gaming shares rise as US softens stance on online betting

Highlights:

  • Late last Friday, the US Department of Justice (DoJ) published its new interpretation of the Wire Act of 1961, concluding that “interstate transmissions of wire communications that do not relate to a ‘sporting event or contest’ fall outside of the reach of the Wire Act”.
  • Previously, the DoJ argued that, based on its interpretation of the Wire Act, US states should not allow online gambling even for bets placed within their borders.
  • Simon French, an analyst at Panmure Gordon, added: “In effect this will make state online lottery, casino and poker legal, where appropriate state regulations exist and lay the foundations for interstate, non-sports gambling.”
  • Bookmakers also moved higher on the back of the positive sentiment. Ladbrokes, for example, ticked up 4.1 to 123.7p and William Hill perked up 6 to 194.7p.
  • Overall, the FTSE 100 index closed down 5.30 points to 5507.40 after trading higher during the morning session.
