Default It's time to make your picks!!

    Championship Sunday -

Jets vs Steelers - I'm picking the Jets 21 Steelers 16, mostly because everyone else is picking the Steelers. But, also b/c the Jets have the ability to change defenses and adapt. The Jets have the athletes to match up with the Steelers rather average receivers and running backs as well.

Also, Sanchez has some experience and may be ready to take the next step in this one. Very good receivers as well as skilled running backs. Also, Polamalu isn't 100% either, and that could be the difference in not making the big play late in the game.

Packers vs Bears - Have no clue on this one. While the Packers have showed a running game recently, the Bears are a very good defense against the run. Rodgers can escape the rush but Peppers is excellent pass rusher. Packers have very good receivers.

Bears QB can be erratic at times, but if Forte can run some, Cutler should be able to complete some passes. Cutler can also escape the pocket similar to Rodgers, but may not throw as well on the run as Rodgers does. Special teams can be huge difference here. Bears must find a way to neutralize Woodson on the blitz, and make Packers pay with a few big plays.

Both teams play outside in cold weather, but the field is said to be the worst in the league, so home field may play a part in familiarity, but this is their second game on this field in less than a month. Execution will be the key to the win. Will Cutler thow a pick or two?

In a shootout the Packers would have the edge, but I think it will be a similar game to the last one with low scores.

So after thinking about it, I pick the Bears 17 - Packers 10.

While it pains me to pick the Jets because they killed my Pats....I hate the Steelers more..so I pick the Jets 31/Steelers 21

I like Green Bay but will go with the Bears just because its been so long since they had a shot at a title....Bears 44/Green Bay 36

Looking for some long balls in both games!

    Cheers

Steelers in a close one (maybe...lol) - don't see why there's so many Jets lovers in the house. Coming into Pittsburgh is like coming into a whole 'nother type of battlefield...Indy and New England are nothing compared to Heinz Field and the swirling winds.

There's a reason why Rex Ryan and Co. haven't been talking smack all week - because they know that the Steelers are nothing like the Colts or Patriots, especially on defense and even more so with their offense and the scrambling beast known as Big Ben. They know it's wise to not piss off an already sleeping giant....

Plus, Troy Polamalu wasn't in their first matchup where the Jets escaped 22-17. Heath Miller wasn't in that game either, and neither was Aaron Smith. All of these people will be healthy and good to go for this Sunday - and as long as the Steelers don't allow another dumb opening kickoff touchdown, this game is all but theirs - unless they're looking to give it away again. It's just gonna be a whole different dynamic when Pittsburgh is healthy.

I respect the Jets - but Mark Sanchez will have to play perfect football against a blitz-happy defense and a secondary that has Polamalu and Ryan Clark in the backfield...and I want to give my condolences to L.T. - you're one of the top 5 running backs of all time buddy, but you're heading to the Hall RING-LESS.

As for the other NFC game - I don't care....the Steelers will murder whoever they play - bring it on :P haha.

Actually, it was just TWO seasons ago when the Steelers last celebrated a Super Bowl win, followed by the Saints last season, and then of course the Steelers taking it home for the 7th time on February 6th, 2011 (spoiler alert, lol)

LOL, come on now - not only do the Steelers have the most Super Bowl victories and AFC Championship game appearances of all-time, they've won the BIG GAME more recently than the Pats.

The Patriots had their glories from 2002 to 2005. The Steelers have brought home the hardware more often since then and will continue to do so for many years to come.

Gotta do the research before ya chime in with the die-hards now, will be a helluva game.

    Oh - and.....NOUGH SAID!!!

Looking at the Steelers game, I think the stout steeler defense will force Sanchez into throwing more than normal. This in turn should lead to one or two turnovers for Pittsburgh. Pick - Pitt 31 NY Jets 17

The Chicago GB match up I see a TIGHT game as both teams know each so well. If Cutler can stay away from the picks he's been known to throw, and with chicagos special teams advantage the Beras can pull this one off. Bears win on a last second FG! Bears 19 GB 17

Pino, sorry to disappoint, but Aaron Smith will not play Sunday.Troy finally practiced on Friday, but still won't be 100%. The key to Pitt's comeback vs Ravens was that Baltimore's defense got tired and worn down in the 4th qtr. Don't expect that to happen this time.

I'm counting on Rex Ryan coming up with a better defense this time to counter what Ptt does well, namely relying on Big Ben to stand back there and make a play. It's rare for a team to have two shots at him like the Jets will.

It's more important for the Jets to keep running the ball regardless of success and keep the Steeler defense off Sanchez. Also running will have an effect later in the game, when Sanchez may need a big play on 1st down. Remember, Steelers defense is getting long in the tooth as well. Strangely, the Steelers are not unbeaten at home this year, and the Jets know they can win there.

Guess i'm the only one who thinks the Pack is Back!? I think Green Bay will send the bears hibernating.

I'm undecided on jets vs steelers. i picked Balt over the steelers last week because of how bad the steelers played the last few weeks of the season. Then came the 3rd and 4th quarter and now i think both the jets and steelers have momentum/success heading into this weekend. I guess i'll go with jets.

I'm rooting for the Jets and Packers...

However, I dont think it will work out.

I think the Jets will get hammered... 35-10 Steelers

The Bears/Pack will be close... I have the Bears winning 17-13.

True about Aaron Smith, but Troy doesn't need to be 100% to decide the outcome of a game and especially shake up how things are run on offense, especially when it comes to deep routes and anything Sanchez dares throws in the middle of the field. The receivers matchup for the Steelers will cause problems with Cromartie and Revis island (hate that name btw, lol) in their own backfield, as switching back and forth between Mike Wallace and Hines Ward will be a battle in the trenches and tough in single coverage situations.

Big Ben causes even more matchup problems and it won't be a walk in the park this time around - Pittsburgh in the playoffs is a much more insane beast than Pittsburgh in the regular season. The Steelers are out to take the title of team of the decade from the Patriots and after they missed the playoffs last year I think they're itching for another crack at the Jets and the Super Bowl obv...don't let the soft-spokenness fool you - they're out for blood and they want it more than the Jets right now (the ONLY people that want it more than the Steelers as a team is Rex Ryan as an individual and Ladainian Tomlinson for his legacy...).

The run will be important, but I don't think it'll have any effect on the game for the Jets. They're gonna look for the big play to Santonio and Braylon early and often and if they're successful they may try to ground and pound to wear down the Steelers - but I just don't see a huge game from either of them that won't be matched by Pittsburgh on the other end by our receivers and tight end Heath Miller.

And fwiw, the Ravens may have gotten wore down defensively, but whose fault was that? The Steelers D was unrelenting and would not back down on Flacco and Co. - it caused fumbles and interceptions and our offense capitalized on that. It's not like the Steelers marched down the field on huge drives in the 2nd half, they got great field position off turnovers and did what they were supposed to do - put it in the endzone and then run out the clock as much as possible on the ground from there to put the game out of reach and Baltimore's offense on the bench

Packers are 2011 Super Bowl Champs!

Packers embarras the Bears today. Bears offense just wont keep up and the Packer D gets the MVP!

I hate the Steelers but want them to win so the Pack can beat them in the SuperBowl. I think Steelers/Jets will be a close game but the steelers squeak out a win. I'll take the Jets plus the 4 points.

What's missing from the Bears-Packers game? Rex Grossman and Brett Favre! I'd have a great time ridiculing those two, but, they aren't there anymore, so I have to go with what we've got.

Considering Jay Cutler's history of throwing interceptions, it's surprising how many here are picking the Bears. I expect him to throw at least one pick, but if he throws two, the Bears have no chance imv. You know how much Mike Martxz loves to throw, but his receivers are not experienced big time disciplined receivers like GB has. So, the question is will Chicago rely on the screen game to open up the passing game, and give Cutler some space to complete a few big plays.

Then too, Aaron Rodgers is not very experienced either He's played well this post-season, but it's only his second year starting, and there is a lot he hasn't seen. He could follow Ben's example, and rely on those around him to make the big plays, but then again, he may feel the pressure to go out and take the game over, and try to do too much.

I am sick of Pittsburgh and their heathen QB, Roethlisburger. My opinion has a lot to do with off the field, but I didn't like him before this season. I've always thought the refs gave the Steelers Ben's first SB win, cause it sure wasn't Ben's doing that they won. Similar to the Raven's win with Trent Dilfer, the Steelrs won in spite of the QB. But that's just my issue, which doesn't have anything to do with the game itself. In the interest of full disclosure - I'm a devoted Cowboys fan, and still have issues from previous SB history between Steelers and Cowboys, although the Cowboys won the last SB between Dallas and Pittsburgh!

I'd prefer the Jets won, althoiugh I'm not fan of Sanchez or Ryan, I just don't want to see the Steelers in another SB. Something different would be nice for a change. But aside from that, the Jets have an excellent opportunity, with the players they have in place to take advantage here. The Steelers are in a position to be beat, and have some great receivers, including Pitt's own last SB MVP!! What could be better than that?

With 2 weeks before the game, it's still too early to say. Lots of factors to consider. Green Bay has no esperience of SB on their team, which is a big factor. Knowing how to deal with all the distractions is important. Coaching is another consideration, considering the egg the Jets laid after their big game against the Pats.

Someone could get hurt between now and the game, someone could be ready to play by game time.

Oddsmakers make their line at a number to get an even amount of bets on both sides, so they make max money. This is the Big Payday for books, so what they say is important.

I see GB -2.5-3.0 for most books, so they haven't settled down yet. Wait til next week and we'll see how things shake out.

Should we do another one for the Steelers Packers Super bowl or just continue on this thread? Also would anybody on here be interested in doing super bowl squares?
