This is not the big secret, that Macau is number #1 gambling hub in the world at least last 10 years. Las-Vegas is far far behind.

The interesting fact, that Affiliate % model, that we all use, was created in Macau in 70's. And offline affiliates/agents ("Junkets") have very big role in Macau gambling buisness.

The Macau model is diffirent then Las Vegas model. Macau gambling is more targeting to VIP players segment. They have less slots, and Baccarat is the game number 1. For example they have casinos, that don't have slot machines, only tables for Baccarat.

No offense to any Asia members et al, but most are gambling crazy. Here in Australia their favourite game is Sic Bo (aka Tai Sai). In Oriental countries, it's also referred to as: Treasure of the Dice.

Point is these stats are not surprising at all, when factoring in populations

Yeas, mainland china have huge population.

But for chinese citizens (PRC) from Mainland is not so easy to visit Macau, as for American citizen to visit Las Vegas. They need visas. Also Macau have very small airport and only one landbased checkpoint on border. So players traffic is limited.

Also, is not very easy for chinese citizens (PRC) to transfer money in Macau. If i remember right, only $3,000 USD.

The key factor is VIP players.

Yes many times. It's a very relaxing place with some great hotels, cheap food and tax free shopping. Since smoking got banned inside the casinos, it's even better.

33 billion against 7 billions shows a huge boom there, most of the games are crazy games as far as I know.

How are this numbers linked to the new Asian Apps boom in the online poker world? Some study like that will be interesting too, cause really high stakes games are currently being played there.
