London Affiliate Conference | January

I just wonder who of you guys is going to the London affiliate conference in January 2011?

I have never been to the conference in London but I have only heard great things? Can anyone share their previous experience? Do you thing it is worth going there for an affiliate marketer specialized in mobile gaming?

Is an AWESOME event - last year was packed - buzzing with people and was a good experience for me.

This year I will be there with the rest of the Roxy Affiliate Team - we'll be on cnr stand number 64!

If you've never been to a conference before, this is definitely the one to start with.

I'd suggest booking meetings beforehand if there are affiliate managers in particular you want to meet with because it's so packed you may not be able to just walk freely to their booth and meet with them. I know this year I had about half hour free on each day to eat and that was the extent of my free time. Many people came past to speak with me and I couldn't speak with them because I was already in a meeting..

Have a fair idea what you'd like to accomplish while you're there - are you wanting to organise some better deals? Or are you wanting to see some of the talks? etc.

It may also be a good idea to make sure none of your meetings go over half hour-45m in length, that way you have more time to meet with more people and you know you'll talk business the whole half hour because you don't have much time to discuss stuff.

Lastly, prepare yourself for the cold, especially if you come from somewhere that doesn't get very cold.

Definitely book your meetings at least weeks in advance with the managers you want to meet.London everyone speaks English other than that they are very similar lol.

I would love to get to this sometime in the future.
I have been to the one in Niagara Falls earlier this year, and I had a blast and learned so much!
I am hoping to get to more of them around the world in the near future...

London is an amazing event. I haven't gone since 2008 I think, but it was a really great conference.

I think it really depends on what your goal is from the conference. Do you want to network with other affiliates, do u want to meet programs, are there specific sessions you want to attend, etc.? London usually has the largest industry turnout of all the conferences which can be good or bad I guess. The awards dinner is a really fun night too!

I guess what I am trying to say is it really comes down to what you want the conference to do for you, and if you can be more specific with that then I am sure you can get better responses based on that criteria.

It's a great event organised with boundless energy by Alex and his team.

These events aren't all one-way-traffic either - they are really useful for affiliates and operators but you need to go with a plan...

• Check the schedule of speakers and topics for the conference rooms and figure out which ones you want to attend - some of them are very popular so allow yourself time to get in early and get a seat.

• Check out the programmes you'd like to meet and contact them to ask if they're attending and book a meeting - try to keep the day-time meetings short and focused and you'll get much more out of them.

• Make sure you give yourself some time to just have a walk around the venue and see what catchs your eye - which maybe a great sign-up offer from a reputable programme but is just as likely to be a half-naked model with a logo sprayed in body paint across her breats!

• Track down Martyn Beacon and if he offers you a 'Commemerative Gold Coin' don't be too impressed, they're not real

For those affiliates that are considering this one I would say its a must. It will be busy, fun and if it is your first one, it'll be the perfect one to go to.
