    Messing with your Brain...

I thought this was pretty cool...

what we see.. isnt always what's real.. its about how our brain expects to see something, from a previous experience.

I think its been modified.. The last time the paper goes into the middle she doesn't put it square, but then the edge disappears like its been smoothed into the one below..

Sorry guys, I don't believe this one.

That is so true; we live in a deceiving world filled with illusions.

I don't think this is possible. Like Renee said, some kind of modification is surely done..

    I love optical illusions.

I think its very easily explained :

The four dark tiles in the shadow that surround the lighter tile, make the lighter tile appear brighter.
Because of the intensity of the light source behind the barrel, the shadow makes them all appear darker.

The amount of light from the light source will also determine the intensity of the shade of the tiles outside the shadow.
Therefore, with the right light intensity, the lighter tile in the shadow will get the same color as the dark tile outside of the shadow.

This is how I see it, but then again, I am not a professor.

I totally agree with your theory.

Heres another one.. applies same shadow principals as the video above.

Our eyes expect to see something, because we experienced it in the past, and try to auto correct it.

So look at the middle bit - looks like it is two different colours - but they are both actually the same colour.

To prove it.. on your monitor use a pencil, or your finger to cover where the two pieces meet, or across the horizon. Once you do that.. the illusion is gone, and you see it as one colour.

I'm not saying the colour thing is wrong, the video just looks like it's edited because of the line just disappearing when the middle tile gets put down incorrectly.
