Default MGM Detroit Jackpot Winner Walks Away

If you can imagine, a 60+ woman was playing a slot machine at MGM Detroit, hit a $30,000 jackpot and then walked away from the machine and left the casino. The woman had not collected her prize and was apparently unaware she'd won. The casino used her player's card info to call her and found her phone number was disconnected, they sent her a letter via US post. Despite thinking the letter was hoax, she contacted the casino, a month later, and did indeed collect the prize.

    1. Use your player's club card, always
    2. Don't gamble if you can't tell you just won a $30,000 jackpot. :O

I would have smacked her in the back of the head prior to giving her the 30k. I guess the flashing lights and non stop ringing made her think there was a fire.

I am glad she got the money.

When there is a big win on a slot machine, they should have flashing lights and loud sounds, to let the player know they won....

Glad she got her money but it does seem strange that she walked away without figuring out the machine was doing something!

With an online casino the money would go straight into her account.

However, it's a good point. I wonder what happens when, for instance, someone dies. Does the money stay there forever?

I'm sure there are loads of accounts that only the player knows about them. Perhaps, after an account has lain dormant for say 2 years, a letter (not email) should be sent out. At least that way surviving relatives might find out about it.

Most online casinos have a little statement in thier t&c's that any money that sits in an account for a long period of time....6 months to a year is kept by the casino....

I can't believe somebody else didn't try to claim the win.

I like to think I do the right thing but if i saw a slot machine going off as a big winner and nobody standing around it ... you bet your sweet (insert whatever, it'd win) that I would slide over and claim it.

what's the worst they can do to you? charge you with intent to win a jackpot you didn't enter the money on?

    I'd take the chance.
Almost Here! How would you like to be able to get not just one sign up from your player, or even a couple, but every single casino they join from here on? I've a plan that can make that happen and it will likely also tell you every time the player is active within the casino.
