Yes, he was overdosed by the doctor who apparently lived with him. He'd taken oxycontin and an injection of demorol...a sure recipe to disaster.
In my view he was the greatest entertainer I have ever seen...and a whack-job. On the entertainment, he changed the face of music - being the first African-American ever to play on MTV, unbelievable as that is now. His Thriller video is the #1 selling album of all time, and the standard by which all others are measured. HIs dancing is what every other dancer copies even today, and He wrote his own songs.
Given he was the primary bread-winner for his entire family from the age of 10, it's no wonder he lost all perspective. Frankly, growing up, he was not allowed any kind of normal life, interacting with people ouside his family. So, he had no clue about how to live a normal life. His home was named Neverland - there's a clue right there, he was afraid of growing up and growing old.
As for being a whack-job, his kids are named Prince Michael, Paris Michael, and Prince Michael II, and if they have any of his dna, it wasn't through the usual way.
True story - I actually met him about 25 years ago, when he was in Memphis for a concert. Three girlfriends and I took a Friday afternoon off to go hear someone speak. Afterward we decided to stop in at the Hilton for a drink. As we entered, on of the bellhops asked us if we were with the "Jackson Party".
We had no clue what he was talking about and just laughed if off. While we we sitting in the bar having a drink, he walks through the lobby with his father. Of course, having a nice buzz going, we all jumped up and ran to him, demanding a picture with him. At that time he did not have an "entourage", etc. He was absolutely frightened!! My friend who was supposed to be taking the pic was so smashed by then, she had the camera backwards, and took a pic of herself!!
At that point, he and his dad got gone!! Come to think of it, we may be why he hired all those people!!Matter of fact, I didn't even go to his concert, though I had seen him before then and have seen him since as well.
I got the impression from that brief meeting, that he was totally clueless about dealing with people, and was very frightened by the whole experience.
We never touched him, or grabbed him at all. None of us did. We did run up to him though, and ask for a pic wih him, though. He didn't know how to say "NO", or just keep walking or whatever, something a celebrity would normally know how to do.
BTW, VH1C is playing his videos all weekend, as well as Fuse. I'm sure there will be tributes all over the radio as well.

It's very sad. From all we're heard, he never was very happy. Abused and confused we all watched him "get weird" and learned about the various reasons over the year. What if he was the King of Ballet or "better than Caruso", would he have been less tormented? Did the rock/pop/celebrity world, the greed, drugs, excess drag him down?
Look at the michael jackson from "Off the Wall", he looked great, but he felt so ugly that he 'mutilated" his face with too much plastic surgery. He feared he'd die like Elvis and he did.
So sad. I sure hope if there something after life that he finds peace and happiness there. he made some great music and some fun videos, he deserves to feel some of the joy that his work brought to his fans.
I wasn't a huge fan, I didn't like the way he lived, but i'm tired of seeing professional success destroy people. Jim morrison, hendrix, joplin, belushi, heath ledger and now jackson. these great artists never could enjoy their success in a healthy, sustaining way.
Let's all learn to survive success.

Im a huge fan of Michael's, I had 4 lots of tickets to go and see him from July through to March next year. Devasted. I've actually worked on one of the highest ranking alround Michael Jackson sites.
He was truly a uniquely talented and amazing human being.
I really loved his movies... The one based on the Bad and Thriller albums - I can't remember what it was called.. but the start was some kids going into some cave thing with spiders everywhere.. great movie.
I was actually saying to my mum on Friday night that I think this will be just like when Princess Diana passed away. Whether you like him or not, he was a musical legend and I'm glad that his music will live on.
He apparently recorded around 100 songs that were only to be released once he passed. I wonder if he actually knew his time was coming when he started recording them and specified only to be released after. I can't wait to hear them too.. I wonder if they will be as good as the past stuff, as good as the old stuff.

Hi,
Moonwalker is the movie, based around music from his Bad album.
I think his music is great up there with the best.
But for me it was the combination of videos, dancing and live performances. In all 3 of these areas he was way better than anyone else. We won't habe these with new music.
Plus obviously alot of people did't even buy he latest music releases (since 2001). It was the old stuff that thatsold in the last couple years everytime it was repackaged.

He is a legend no doubt. Although there are some negative aspects of his life that will float around for a while he leaves behind legendary music. RIP MJ
Well the President has hardly paid any form of tribute to him and this is in direct relation to his private life.
Think it will always stain his legacy
Read today on TMZ.com that the kids are not biologically his.
Now could be just gossip but this could get real messy for a long time yet.

To find true bravery and courage all one need do is look in to the eyes of a sick child - A humble parent
I heard that too. However, if he bought the sperm, and paid for the egg donation, then they are still legally his children. Signed releases from everyone involved makes that clear. Even the "supposed" biological mother, his ex-wife, signed away all her legal rights, as well.
Money talks.
The big deal now is his will, and who controls the money.

The Family Trust will take care of everything, I hope daddy gets nothing.
Michael will never be replaced or forgotten.
I think he was slammed and misunderstood that is the only thing wrong with Michael, At least he doesn't have to listen to people running him down anymore. I hope he haunts everyone of them.
This morning I heard on the radio that there have been "Michael Sightings".
The rumours are starting now that he faked his death.
I have to say, although I do think that he has passed away, it's pretty convincing...
He recorded the 100 songs just recently to be released only after his death.. he had in his will that he wanted his body displayed at Never land and now they decided not to do it.
Hmm....
