Michelle Newton Joins GPWA as Program Assistant

Just under four weeks ago I announced on the thread http://www.gpwa.org/forum/gpwa-hiring-program-assistant-169062.html that the GPWA had made a decision to expand by hiring a full-time program assistant (see the thread for a job description for the new position).

We've been busy since then. We received and reviewed the resumes of many applicants, and interviewed a half-dozen candidates that we felt were the most promising. Last week we asked Michelle Newton to join our team, and she accepted and began work as our new GPWA program assistant today.

Having Michelle on our team will make a big difference. We expect to be able to catch up on our backlog of new member applications, and then begin a major public relations effort to grow both the number of GPWA members and the number of GPWA Approved Portal sites.

Hello Everyone!

I am the newest addition to the GPWA team and wanted to say hello!

I join Casino City with a rather random background. Two years ago I graduated from Northeastern University with a BS in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. Right out of school I began working at a small interactive marketing agency where I took on the role of Account Manager. My expertise focused more on the design side of things which quickly grew into a passion for graphic design. I learned a good amount about the online/interactive world, however, my main focus was to interface with clients, including spearheading kick-off meetings, resolving problems, advising on web design and managing the company’s internal schedule.

A few months back, I began to realize my desire to grow my career was stunted at this extremely small firm. I would always be an Account Manager and I wasn’t sure that was what I wanted. Therefore, I looked to move on to something bigger and better... and Casino City’s flashing lights certainly caught my eye!

Prior to graduating, I had amazing experiences at some very exciting companies. I learned the business of HR advertising, was an executive recruiter at a search firm and contributed to substantial growth of a local custom packaging/promotional products company. So far, in my early stages of my career I have gained extensive experience in customer service, research and business development and I am excited to be part of a team that will allow me to continue to grow!
