    My Thought About Paid Directories

I think that the quality of the directory depends on the quality of the sites been approved.

Therefore bid-directories and directories that will automatically approve your site just because you paid ... are worth nothing.

Paid directories like Yahoo Directory that won't guarantee to insert your site into their index are valuable - But only if they will think that he is quality.

That what I think ... Do u agree with me ?

Approximately 3 years ago I discovered bidding directories. I collected a list of approximately 2000 of these that allowed me to get my website listed for $1.

I would launch a site, pay someone to submit to all of these directories, and within a month google would rank the site for the keyword i targeted. This lasted for about 6 months... for msn a little longer, yahoo was too smart for it.

After that google caught on and started discounting all directories that use bidding and duplicate content. As it is now, only important directories are worth submitting to. The cheap dollar directories can actually hurt your rankings now. (i know they claim one way links cant hurt you but that's bs)

paid directories is somewhat effective but i don't always focus on this kind of link building process, else i do a three-way-link. Linking your site into a reliable and related niche is more effective though. You can achieved good referrals and it can be easily crawled.

free directories areworth the time. Some give decent PR, most are very low or none (not that its all that important). I have never had the need to submit to paid directories.

It does not matter if the directory is free or paid ... What's matter is the editorial rules ... If that directory just accept every site it worth nothing.

This site may help if you are looking for a listing of paid directories. It details PR, fee, and link to submit.
I used it a while back, but I believe it's up to date.
