Nearly a Newbie

I've asked a few months ago for reviews of winatonlinecasinos(co.uk), and many thanks for the help received. I've done a lot more work on it, and hopefully it has changed beyond all recognition from what it was. It's still getting very few visitors though. Any ideas why? Is it too amatuer looking? Is it an area that no-one is searching for? Any comments welcome. Thanks, Arthur.

You have alot of work to do... Your site is very very generic looking.
Dont worry so mych about the gambling layout as you should implimenting important pieces. More banners. You should make a table. Use wp table reloaded and list top 10 online casinos, there bonuses, free play etc.
also include language widget. if you need any content let me know i have alot

Hey Arthurm,

Well in my opinion one thing you should start working at is your .css file.

You have to many type of text formating and it is not pleasant for human eye.

Also another observation of mine: although you were trying to get a working design for it, there are some minor changes that could improve your website. I usually get the old fashion way: blank paper and pencil try to put on paper what is in your head. Then start applying that. When you get new ideas just get that paper and check where you can insert them so you don't ruin the first main picture.

Thanks for the advice. I'm limited to layout changes in some ways because I'm using a template design, but I certainly see what you mean about too many text varieties. Its a very old looking site, you could actually make it look better if you moved it to something like blogger but you want a site so If I was you I would move it to wordpress. Or if you've got the hang of php pick up a nice template for 20-50$

You seem to have a ton of strategy on it which is good but your not selling rooms to people at all where is your casino reviews? You cant expect the few banners you have are going to get players. For me its just all over the place with no structure. If I was you I would leave it up but move it to a better template or wordpress. I recently done that with a site of mine and it will be much easier for me to update it, it took a bit of time but should pay for itself over the rest of its life and will make things easier for me.

My advice would be search casino sites on google and look at the nice looking eye catching ones to get ideas for your own one.

Stop writing for the bots and try writing for the human visitor.
I pulled this article from your home page to give you an example of what I'm talking about:

Yes, unfortunately I agree with the keyword stuffing comment. I paid a load of money I couldn't afford to some guy to SEO my site, and he just wrote for the bots. I won't be making that mistake again. Oh well, you live and learn, looks like I've got some major work ahead of me. Anyway keep the comments coming, I am grateful for any, good or bad.

It's a work in progress, and I guess any good site always will be, but I've done loads of updates to it, within the confines of the template I'm using.
I'm reluctant to move it to Wordpress or similar, I'm really not that tech-savvy, but here's hoping the changes make a difference.

I like the rewritten content on the landing page. Much more reader friendly now!!

Visually, the site is bland. Not much color, a lot of text. I can see why visitors don't hang around long.

You may want to add some graphics, pictures or banners... sprinkle them through the text. One or two per page should make a difference.

Also, you could add some background color to some of your text blocks by wrapping tables around the paragraphs. Pretty simple html coding and adds a visual punch. Text boxes help highlight key content areas as well.

As far as increasing your traffic goes, just keep adding content and maybe exchange some links with reputable webmasters. The private members here are usually good choices for reciprocal link trades.

But I must say that I must agree with Thepokerkeep: the website is still not the best visitor-friendly website. Try to give it some color by adding a few banners.

The homepage only facilitates the access to the real content of the site. You have to make your visitor curious what is behind "the scenes"(the homepage).

Also if you want to destroy your homepage... Work more on adding homepage links.

You might want to rethink your linking strategy, it is not good to have homepage full of links. Try to get in your visitors mind, when he checks your website and has the first impression of a link farm, although he doesn't know what a link farm is. Linking from your homepage should only point to authority websites or affiliates(for affiliates I would suggest you to get banners, it adds a little color to your website).

Also try to change your background, White is good... for hospitals
You might want to consider giving it a color(I don't mean you should consider adding some vivid color, but you might add some background with high opacity)

I can't change certain bits because of the template I use, but to anyone who is very new to building a website, I can still recommend www.yola.com , where you can build a site, for free, with no skills needed. No, I'm not an affiliate of theirs, just a happy user.

One suggestion:
You have some links at the bottom of the center panel that could be considered hidden links... the text color is very similar to the background color. This is a no-no in Googles eyes, I would change that immediately.
