    Nevada passes online poker legislation

Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval signed legislation Monday that will adopt regulations and grant licenses to casinos to be ready to offer online poker if and when the federal government approves it.

The governor also signed a separate bill that would allow casinos to offer customers the option to access their favorite slot machine, table game or sports book in their hotel rooms.

    From the GPWA:

The bill directs state regulators to set rules that "ensure the protection of consumers, prevent fraud, guard against underage and problem gambling, and aid in law enforcement efforts."

It also requires them to set license fees to operate interactive gaming and for manufacturers and equipment associated with interactive gaming.

The bill says a license for interactive poker may be issued to a resort that has held an unrestricted license for at least five years before the application is filed.

when the federal government will approve? and is only for Nevada or for all states?

if is only to Nevada, will be a discrimination for the remaining states.

I'm going to have to read that whole thing, but I imagine the 10th Amendment would facilitate Nevada allowing these games within their state. Or at least they would have a case to make in that regard. Of course, they are different from New Jersey in that they were grandfathered in as an exception to a federal anti-sports betting law (I think Oregon, Delaware and Montana are the other exceptions).

But "when the federal government approves it"? Wouldn't it then make it allowable for all the states, unless they choose to expressly forbid it?

Its good news for sure, but it also sounds like nothing is going to happen anytime soon. Maybe online poker/gambling will finally be legalized in the next year or two. Oh well, I guess just work hard till then and focus on language casinos
