About LinkBacksHistorically when we no longer have a sponsor relationship with a program we have moved forum threads for those programs to a special former sponsor program section and set the forums so that no further activity is allowed.
However, earlier this week we made a decision that programs that are not sponsor programs, but that have a large number of outstanding complaints should be left open for further webmaster communication about the issues behind the complaints. Our hope is that this will facilitate webmaster discussion about whether or not the issues are being resolved independently of the sponsor status of the troubled program. Programs such as Affiliate Lounge and Rome Partners are currently included in this section.
The new section is just below the sponsor program forums, and can be accessed directly using the following URL: www.gpwa.org/forum/affiliate-program-warnings.html.

does this not then give an ex sponsor program the ability to continue to post and target affiliates with the same permissions as when they were a current sponsor?

No, we would not allow the forum to be used in that fashion. The sole purpose of the continued existence of the forum in the cited situation is to support affiliates and certainly not an affiliate program whose sponsorship was ended because of issues with the relationship between affiliates an the program.
