    Default New Affiliate Seeking Mentor

    Hello,

I am seeking an established affiliate as a mentor with the objective of helping me to grow my own sites along with my own professional development in the space.

I had the idea that it might work as a remote internship, where I do work for you on your sites or business in exchange for insights or help with my site... I'm open to suggestions.

Please contact me if this is of interest to you,

    Nick

Speak to John at gaffg.com, they offer this type of service, not to mention they are great guys.

Gambling affiliate business is highly competitive. No one is going to dish out their secrets (that they have learnt toiling for years with little or no money) out to some kid; who wants to make it.

And, anyone who promises you that will probably just take internship hours out of you for information that you can find on this forum for free.

Learn on your own. Stop taking shortcuts. This isn't the movie Wall Street.

And if you really mean it; working as an affiliate manager for a casino company will give you much better insights into traffic and their patterns.

Thanks for the info and insight Elaine, I'm looking for less of a program/service provider more of an active Affiliate for a quid pro quo situation where maybe we build business together. Appreciate your suggestion though,

Thanks for your feedback Malikbhai, I understand your viewpoint but I'll keep looking for my Obi Wan (or Gordon Gekko). I am confident I have a lot to bring the right business.

I can't speak for the quality of what they offer in terms of mentorship at GAFFG. However, I have spoken to John a few times over the years and he seemed like a knowledgeable and friendly guy. It might not hurt to talk to him and see if there is anything that can be arranged for mutual benefit.

Let GPWA be your mentor.. take time out to read the threads and you will find an answer for pretty much every question, if you don't then make a post.

Believe it or not, there are people out there (in this industry too) who don't like to work alone and also keen to share their knowledge with others. I agree that igaming is highly competitive but there's still a lot of space for newcomers. If one has a good idea, learns and works hard you can get there. Finding mentors is a very good idea I think. I follow many high performing marketers and learn from them passively as well as contacting influencers occasionally and engage in a chat where I can to bounce off ideas and pick their mind.
I personally like to collaborate. It's not always about just money.

You could also check out Affiliate Insider (Founded by Lee-Ann Johnstone: leeannjohnstone.com). They run great Affiliate Bootcamps like: www.affiliatefest.co.uk in September (London) which are filled with expert speakers and content to learn from.

ps. We actually just hosted a promotion in May for new affiliates to our programme, to pay for their accommodation to attend this event

Agreed, there is YEARS and years worth of insight and training available here, just keep reading, just keep in mind that some of the older seo stuff, may or may not be the exact methods to follow (especially concerning things like link exchanges, toolbar PR etc)

Working as an affiliate manager at a casino with little to no experience as an affiliate, and what they face, may not make for a very successful affiliate manager.

    Hi Nick,

I'd help remotely with general advice. But I don't need an intern working on our sites.
So I'd do it for a partnership share of the increase in traffic / profits if you're interested.

However, you need existing traffic, and a good / enthusiastic / interesting take on the gambling space.
Another wordpress based comparison site listing offers is never going to cut through.

PM me with your site details and I'll take a look at the current site and see if I think that I can help.

You can really learn so many things if you just let GPWA guide you as you begin to build yourself up in the gaming world. All of the GPWA staff members here are fantastic people to lead the way for you. Good luck.

I feel overwhelmed with the help of people here in this forum. I am in Asia and work for Asian markets. No one is happy to share and they tend to stay low key. If I try to contact them, they also share very little.

it's not so much that they do not share. it's more that they expect things in return. and these things are either 1) ridiculously high amounts of cash money 2) a resource they are missing (due to language barriers between SEA nations)... such as an introduction to a corrupt casino affiliate manager... or passport forgers... or bank account proxies... if you are indeed a complete newcomer, you will not have any such resource to offer them, which will leave you with the only cooperation model being huge hands full of cash. which you also do not have. which puts you where you are right now. add me to skype and i can move you a few steps into a useful direction. BTW. try not to meet too many of these people offline. you may end up being killed. lives are very cheap in south-east asian casino affiliate marketing...

Asian offline gambling markets are controlled by local gangsters. You'd be better off staying away from them, unless you want to join the dark side.
It's not fun if one does not have professional experience in organized crime, or white collar time spent in jail.

If you're clean, focus on ways to keep yourself out of police trouble, which means to just forget about contacting local bookies.
