    New member - New affiliate

    Hi there,

New member here, 21 based in the United Kingdom, I am a very active member on a number of other forums ( Non-affiliate based) I have previously run attempts at basic affiliate marketing (i.e freebiejeebies ) quite unsuccessfuly, I disliked the signing up to multiple site's for a one of payment (CPA?), so I decided to start up a proper affiliate website.

I had the idea of a site on Monday the 16th of January, and had my site designed and online by the 18th. It's still in development, review & SEO optimisation. Any reviews of the site, hints tips or any other information would be appreciated.

    Thanks and see you around.

Very interesting design structure you have chosen there, I wasn't initially a fan but after a few minutes of browsing your site I quite liked it!

As always, I'll give my honest feedback below, take it as you please:

    1. In the best offers section it simply has the banners which frequent gamblers see on a lot of on other websites. My initial impression from .gif banners is that they are very short and don't explain how to claim the bonus.

I'd write brief descriptions about how to claim the bonus, why to join etc. and have a nice little sign-up button. I did that with a few of my other sites as well as the banners and people preferred to click on them.

    2. I'd segregate the offers section into categories. For example:

    Match-up bonuses
    No-deposit bonuses
    etc...

Any specific questions please let me know

    Cheers,
    Dave

Thanks for the feedback, I've gone for hopefully quite a modern, minimalistic layout, my brother (20) has started his own marketing & design company and has done a lot of research into website's and the growing trends.

I think you point about the banners is valid, I've had a couple of people send me e-mails about this, so I think I will follow your advice and write a nice description of each of the offers. The 2nd point I will have to think about, I don't know if I want to put the offers into categories as I think it might interfere with the flow of the site.

Look's like I'm heading back into notepad for some HTML editing. Wish me luck! all other advice & thought's are welcome.

The site should be opitmised for mobile browsers if that's what you mean?

Also after work today I'm downloading the Android SDK to build an application to go with the site.

A different looking site (not a bad thing) - The grey colour is not to my taste though - have you tried breaking it up with a little colour?

I've had a look at different colour backgrounds, but It seemed to distract the eye from what I want people to focus on, I also have gone for a very minimalistic style and grey seemed to fit.

Different indeed. Had same feeling as Dave at the start, but liked it after some browsing.

I think you should watch the bounce rate- since there is a risk that part of the players won't be patient and will move on without really checking.

Maybe some invitation/action link or button below the Welcome text will keep them on the site.

    Good Luck!

Updated the site once again, added a new like us on Facebook button. Now it's about gaining the traffic. Anyone got any tips on this? I mean with tipping website's a lot of it will be about "word of mouth" and people recommending the site to friends etc. I'm currently trying social media avenue's to limited success.

Is the best thing to just plug, plug & plug away more?

    Hi Voids

My success with social media has been limited, after a year with pushing it I'd say that social media is probably better for retaining people who have already visited your site and getting them to visit again, rather than gaining new visitors that convert.

My first port of call with gaining new traffic would be search engines. Read up on SEO, the best starting point is with Googles very own basic guide:

    http://static.googleusercontent.com/...rter-guide.pdf

Naturally keep plugging and getting your site name out there through the forums and social media, but that is my focus others may think different.

    Cheers,
    Dave
