The next London Affiliate Conference is in January right? How do I register for it? I really want to go. Also, I have never been out of the country before and don't have a passport. I'm not even sure how to get one lol. The only places I have ever been are Florida, Georgia and Illinois. What's it like in London?

I was born and grew up in London, moved away when I was 18 and try not to go back if I can manage it, so my view of the place is probably a bit jaundiced compared to visitors! In January if it isn't cold and wet I will be surprised. You will need a passport!

Yeah i am like Ray, grew up there and my opinion is very similar, we did a thread about this last year before the conference and i was not flattering about London for sure.

But for visitors it is a great place, natives that leave the place are not the best people to comment really.

You should be able to get your passport at your post office. Be sure to allow 6 to 8 weeks for it to arrive. Be prepared to spend atleast 12 hours on a plane flying over a ton of water, but once you get there you will have a wonderful time seeing how different it is from what we have here (double decker bus, signs, street markings, etc.) and meeting peers.

I may be there, but not sure just yet as I have to go to Ohio and Las Vegas this year still and not sure I'll be up for that long flight, which I hate. lol

Speaking as a tourist from Oz, I didn't find London that exciting.. I expected more.. but I think it depends where you're from.

Conference wise, London this year was the best conference I've been to and I would recommend going if you're still thinking about it..

You'll be busy the whole time, even if you don't organise meetings, because you'll be spending your day trying to get around to every single booth there (and this year there were a crapload), meeting people from the boards etc It's always nice to put a face to a name...

I think if you were only going to one conference, London is the one.

Sorry we need to update the site - We are ridiculously busy with Budapest at the moment but will have this sorted as soon as we are back....Any questions fire them at us and we will do our best to answer them but we may be a bit delayed.....

London was great for my wife and I. We arrived early and stayed late to take advantage of the reduced hotel rate and spend two days touring on our own. January was cold but not bitter, was in the 40's (f) during the day and 25-30 (f) at night. We avoided any serious rain and had a lovely time of it. The wind off the Thames was a bit bone chilling though.

Start working on your passport now and avoid a last minute rush and paying an extra $150 for rush delivery. And as Robin said, the post office is where you get one. Just check your local Post Office as not all do them and some are by appointment only.

The flight is not too bad, we shuttled from our home airport to Atlanta and it was an 8 hour redeye from there to Hethrow. If you can manage it, I would highly recommend the trip.

We stayed at the Grange City Hotel (Official hotel #2) and were in view of the Tower of London, Tower Bridge and the conference was a short walk down the hill. The Grange St Paul was the Official hotel and was nice too but we preferred the Grange City Hotel as it was a bit cozier and quiet.

I have to admit, I sighed somewhat when I discovered the venue hadn't changed. Do we know if the door-nazi's have been given the ability to 'think' this time?

If those doors asses are on duty this time round i foresee huge issues.

Hopefully Alex will confirm that security on the doors will be done with common sense in January to avoid what i am certain will be some unpleasant scenes.

Thanks to everyone for the helpful replies. I had no idea that I would be able to get one at the post office. I figured it would be at the social security place or something so I'm sure glad I asked. lol.

If I do get to go to the conference I will make sure to pack for cold wet weather thanks to you all. I guess that is to be expected for January. I am looking forward to meeting people and learning from everyone.

I know the time is going to fly and January will be here at light speed so I figure I'll go check the post office as soon as possible. Thanks again everyone!

$150 sounds about the norm. Be sure to do makeup & hair because it's a very close colored shot and it lasts for like 10 years or so. hehe

Agreed on the security...

They wouldn't even let us as exhibitors in the side door - made us line up behind the attendees.. Well that kinda sux when the attendees get inside to find no exhibitors at the booths, or still trying to setup!

I'm sure considering last year it will be better next time around.

Gutted we had to use the same venue this year as I really wanted something bigger, unfortunately there wasnt anything available but we have changed things around a bit, i.e. food and eating area has been moved two floors up and we have paid for more heads so hopefully you will get something to eat this time and have more space!!!

Security wise we will speak with them again about this as they were certainly a little rude, unfortunately we have to use them as its in the venue contract as their preferred supplier - I will have words though.

Either way though Rob, as I said on Facebook I am going to save you a seat at a table and a plate of food so all we need to deal with is the security and the crowds!!!

What ever happens everyone just needs to be prepared for a massive event, this seems to be the one everyone comes to or has to date - Numbers last year completely surprised me - I just looked at pre registrations and we had 2,526 delegates pre register which is nuts! In 2011 I am not sure if it will be the same but be prepared!

Actually Alex this was the day after we setup - we had already picked up our passes the day before and were trying to go in the side door where we went in to setup and they told us to go out the front and line up even though we had our passes.. Then at the front they wouldn't let us in until 9.30 or whatever time the attendees were allowed in, which I thought was absurd..

We pay them near on 5k I think - Definitely not less than 3k and I reckon they will want the contract with the venue


STOPPPPP PRESSSSSS - Kiera just told me they don't have the contract anymore and all security is in house so hopefully that means it will be nice people.....We will also fully brief them that you are all VIPS and must be looked after like that....Well apart from a few of you which they will have pics of
