Much debate about what is best but clearly wordpress is the most common among many affiliates and webmasters, especially when there is a lack of coding skills.

Speed wise, make sure you use a fast host and use the least amount of plugins you can to reduce overhead. There are a long list of threads here recommending which plugins are most preferred.

Word Press will also be a good deal, because coding is too much time consuming. As universal4 said, there are a lot of themes here about site speed and neccessary plugin to install and keep up your sites in a "good fit ".
But besides of all you will read, just remember that without contect all the effortsa are countless.

Wordpress is not a problem at all. There are thousands of successful websites that are running on WP. Make sure that your website has a fast loading time.

Regardless of the platform used, site speed is a major fact these days. Hence, the days of paying a few bucks a month for cheap-hosting, are long gone. As others have recommended, get yourself a decent hosting provider.

With regards to WP, as of Version 5.0, the old classic editor has been rebuilt and is now called Gutenberg (allowing for rich media, block editing eg adding columns etc., etc., in a grid layout, with all the CSS done for you; you can however customise your CSS as well as other options). The WP team released a plugin the revert back to the "classic editor", which is being supported/updated by them till 2022.

IDK but the new block editor is clunky IMO. It's not very user friendly. Instead, I recently purchased DIVI. Which is a site builder for WP, which is basically the same concept as Gutenberg BUT it's a million times easier to use. The options available are to design a unique site (using any wordpress theme) are outstanding. I'd highly recommend you taking a look at it: https://www.elegantthemes.com/

On the occasion when I don't want to host a site on my server, I host at https://www.siteground.com/wordpress-hosting.htm, check them out, support if excellent and their FTTB values are low. Meaning, your page load-speed should be fair fast. But a word of warning, try to keep plugins down to the barest minimum. Some folks are using 30 plugins and then wonder why their site take 10+ secs to load on shared hosting...

Aside from a site needing to be mobile optimized, Google now lists site higher if they use AMP (Accelerated Mobile Pages). There's a WP plugin for it. But be careful with it... If you not, your pages can load on a mobile, without your banners etc. Hence, you need to use the custom page editor to include these items in your AMP pages.

You might also want to consider using a CDN (Content Delivery Network)...

You can get a free account at https://www.cloudflare.com, though tbh the paid version is a lot better

Lastly SSL is a must these days... But that can be obtain for free via cPanel... Your hosting provider can set it up if your no au fait with that!

many webmasters use wordpress because it is a good platform. You just need to choose a good hosting and use a few plugins
