Default Online gambling growth has slowed down in Spain

Over the past year, Spain’s regulated online market has experienced a slow down in growth, as the Q1 figures released by Spain’s regulator (Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego) mark the lowest growth percentage since a 2.3% increase was recorded in Q2 in 2018, which, of course, featured the first part of the 2018 World Cup.

According to the report, online sports betting revenue was up 26.2% year on year, but only 0.63% in Q4 of 2018. Share of in-play betting revenue was up 11.5% from the Q4, while pre-match revenue was down by 11%.

Poker showed an increase of 2.70% compared to the previous quarter and a decrease of -1.4% compared to the same quarter 2018. The DGOJ said that the increase was mainly due to tournament poker that registered a positive quarterly variation rate of 7.88%.

The competition is certainly getting harder for this industry all the time with so many new casino operators joining in and wanting a piece of the market.

Spain has little competition, Not many good programs here, also the mindest is different whilst sports is popular casinos and poker are not, the locals still prefer the brick and mortar way of gambling

Thanks for the link with the original data!
Marketing expenditures in the third quarter amounted to 92.25 million euros, an annual growth of 21.38%, including the costs of entry of 10.18 million euros; sponsorship of 4.88 million €; shares 29.34; and advertising 47.85 million euros. Compared to the previous quarter, these expenses are reduced by -5.58% mainly due to a decrease of -8.92% in bonuses and -6.50% in advertising.

    Huge numbers is this normal?)
