Online gaming industry in Latin America

    Hi everyone,

I've written a blog post today about the online gaming industry in Latin America
http://blog.incomeaccess.com/10491/2011/11/14/online-gambling-approaching-latin-america/. I've recently come upon statistics that support that this industry is growing rapidly in countries such as Mexico, Brasil, Argentina and Costa Rica, which lead me to think that this Latin America may be the next market many brands are looking at to do business.

Even though I've done a preliminary research, I'm interested to know if anyone at GPWA is currently working with brands that target this market,or affiliates that have sites that target this market. I'd love to learn a bit more about the current state of the market.

I believe, based on the information I read, that general conditions are proving to be ideal for important brands to offer their services in these latitudes. However, things like regulation, banking methods, awareness, are still unclear...

Love to hear more from the forum on this topic.

    Have a good week everybody!

Latin America is an expanding market and something worth looking into. There is money in Latin America but one small issue is payment processing as not everyone in these countries even have a bank account and even less have access to credit cards e-wallets. If you deal with this market you may need to also look into how can you handle the processing. For this reason maybe micro-targeting the market and going after villages rather than towns or countries is the way to go and getting to know your players one on one. With the banking sector really taking off in Latin America it is only a matter of years before credit-cards and e-wallets become more accessible to the masses.

    Interesting....

How wide spread are computers and the internet?

Anyone have figures of what percentages of homes have puters or the net?

I think if you look at Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Brazil, you see that a large % of people are internet savvy and are comfortable making e-commerce transactions online. When you look at other countries like Peru, Colombia, Venezuela, Panama, you have a high percentage of internet savvy people but less overall comfort with making transactions online, so you have to do more hand holding. Still though, there are enough wealthy people with credit cards in most of these countries to make up a nice niche market already, and the markets are developing extremely rapidly.

I'll look for some percentages of homes that have computer and internet and I'll get back to you soon.

    Hi nico!

I work as affiliate targeting Sudamerica. My players are principaly from Chile, then Argentina, Mexico, Perú and some others.

Recently I was interviewed by a business newspaper about online casinos in Chile (interview link). Unfortunately the report is in Spanish but you can use the Google translator tool.

    Regards!

In Brazil is because the casinos are illegal and the gobernment don´t let brazilians spend money using credit card on any casino, even if they are in other country, the same happens in online casinos. So, they have to oppen Neteller or Moneybookers accounts and deposit there with the credit cards.
