    Other Browser Suggestions

Ok, I've had it with Explorer and Firefox. I prefer FFox, but have problems with it redirecting after doing a Google Search.
I have gone thru all the 'fixes' in the last 3 months. No, I don't have a virus - checked with 3 programs. I searched the internet and got the about.config remedy--does not work.
I keep Explorer 6, only to view that my webpages are ok, as I heard that a lot of the world still uses this version.
I just read that Explorer 8 and 7 have problems--so what do I do?
Safari, Opera? I am open to suggestions for other browsers and what u like about them.
Help please for lady in distress

You could try Google Chrome, see how you get on with that.

I went through that issue a while back - but id never choose another browser, FF rocks! especially with the plethora of add-on options, not sure what caused the problem initially for me - but a quick uninstall/reinstall fixed er' up...good luck!

Konqueror is the integrated browser in KDE desktop environment in Linux and other Unix-like OS's. It has a couple of features and a couple of rendering issues so it's not a 'mature' browser yet.

Opera is good, I use it as my main browser, but I also have an old Mozilla, FF2, FF3, IE6, IE7, Konqueror, Chrome for testing (on a couple of machines).

Thanks to all for your suggestions.
Justin: As I said, I like FFox, but worry if an uninstall/install would lose some current addons/bookmarks?
In the meantime, Chrome looks good, but no addons?

I hear ya - I just love FF so much...couldn't do without it. You could export the bookmarks:

    1. Select Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks.
    2. The Bookmarks Manager opens. Click File > Export…
    3. Save the bookmark.html file

...& them import them to new install

As for exporting FF addons - use this bad-boy https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox...

I tend to agree with what's basically been said above. I really like FFox but Google Chrome seems to be becoming a decent contender as well.

    Justin: thanks again.
As for the redirect problem, I was given this 'fix' from the forum--major geeks: http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=182559
BTW, love that name 'major geeks', something I will never be
    Hope this helps someone.

I think you should install a Google Chrome web browser. According to me it is a very good, simple and fast browser from others. As my experienced with it there is no problem that you faced in Firefox. I strongly suggest Google Chrome.

Recently Bit9 released their list of the "Dirty Dozen" list of apps named with the worst vulnerabilities needing security updates....and named #1 was Google Chrome with 76 reported vulnerabilities.

    Firefox was #5

I know this is a resurrected thread by an obvious spammer but coincidentally I have had this exact problem - about 30% of the time I click a link when searching for gambling related terms it redirects me to William Hill Casino or somewhere similar - extremely annoying!

Thanks for the suggestion Gayle, I do not want to change browsers so I will give that a shot!
