Party Poker now second largest online poker room

Thanks to Full Tilt Poker's turbulent week, Party Poker is the now the second largest poker room on the Internet, according to PokerScout. It's the first time since 2006 that Party Poker has cracked the top two (PokerStars is still #1 by over 30,000 players).

    From Gambling911:

For the first time in over five years, PartyGaming marquee brand PartyPoker has become the second largest online poker room following the closure of Full Tilt Poker by its licensing arm in the Channel Islands. Full Tilt has long been the 2nd largest room over the past five years following Party’s exit from the US market.

PartyPoker had just shy of 4000 ‘real cash” players on average for this past week with a 24-hour peak of just over 8500 players total. The iPoker Network, which is represented on the Gambling911.com website through its William Hill online poker room, was within striking distance of just 150 “real cash” players less than Party while it had approximately 500 total players fewer than Party.

Go Party Poker! They say fashion comes back around and it seems these market shifts brought PP back to # 2. one company's loss is another's gain. one thing is for sure, this market is shifting rapidly ...

So true - one companies loss, another companies gain. Stars still has an immense number of players. Says something about their software, support, and games and liquidity of players.

Its been a while since Ive played on Party... may have to revisit soon.

I never thought in a million years that Party Poker could overtake Full Tilt Poker!

I'm glad the online poker industry is still surviving, truly one of the most entertaining games of all time (even if I can never win at it)

...traffic is consistent over the last 6 months - no growth. not sure how G911 thought that was news worthy though.....maybe tomorrow we can hear about how Entraction is in the top 10

This is news that is worth noting and yet makes sense....

Since Party was once the #1 largest and set many of the standards other poker rooms followed in the early days of online poker it is not a total surprise that they could earn this spot back.

Very interesting news. Partypoker can now make some changes on its software in order to achieve more. If they improve their platform they can be more competitive.

The limited time no rake fees on tournaments makes it an excellent time to promote them and get them caught up with Stars maybe

Party in #2 as long as full tilt is down. Anyway party will be #1 once they are back in US as stars and tilt won't. So yes buy the stock now, it is not too late.

Yes, i would think so too. Unless a new big harrahs brand or something takes over when it gets legalized.

Full tilt is not looking so strong and party poker is getting stronger. At least they have a casino to promote unlike pokerstars
