    Default Quiet In The Summer

    Hi All,

Just wondering if there is a general pattern of less account sign ups and first time deposits over the summer months.

My sign ups have been really quiet for about three months. Is it just me or is there a general trend? My Niche is bingo and slots.

    Cheers, LizzyB

June/July are usually quiet for me (sports) but there are polls where people promotig casino/poker say their revenue and signups drop over the summer so I would say yes for most people.

I hope so, the last few months have been atrocious for me, I blame it on the unusually hot weather in the UK
Bring on the wet, cold and rain I say.

the majority of people go away for a week or 2 in the summer, that can never help surely?

mine slowed down but I did have a slight drop in google by a place or 2 so dont have a like for like comparison

The whole Internet goes quiet in the summer; YouTube, Adsense, us lot.

Hi Lizzy, there's definitely a downturn in traffic over the summer months throughout the industry, especially in your niches. People go on holiday, and the kids are off school hence a decline in Bingo traffic. Things should be starting to pick up again now though.

I would agree that there is definitely a slow down in traffic over summer. Like thebookiesoffer said, many people go on vacation or see summer as a time to get out of the house not sit in playing online.

Hopefully things pick up again for you soon.

Having worked in the industry for a couple of years, I would say that this happens every summer (I work with Northern European markets), and the better (hotter/warmer) the weather is, the worse it gets when it comes to players signing up and playing in general. But it should start getting better soon. By October for sure!

Whilst not necessarily applicable to our industry, there was some research recently into UK E-commerce sites which saw conversion rates decrease (part 1) but visits, especially those on mobile, increase (part 2), which they hypothesise is because people search while they are shopping offline - which gambling obviously doesn't benefit from.

I saw slow downs, last summer and this one as well. However it's barely noticeable (for sports) as things pick up in mid August.

Ditto what everyone else has said. I find June is a little slower and it generally gets worse until maybe mid-Sept when the weather turns and things generally pick up everywhere.

    Enjoy the summer!

I obviously work a lot with the Scandinavian markets being a Scandi myself and I can confirm that I see the same changes from our end... Summer is just not that casino-ish

Yes would have to agree on this one! Summer months generally means outdoor activities and family vacations. Routine will kick in soon enough and so will your stats so hang in there.

    Regards,
    Rebecca.
