    Default Regular customer gone AWOL

    Hi,

not sure if this is the right part of the forum but here goes.

I had a regular user who would bet every week last season and was expecting to get some comission from them again this season but my affiliate account is showing 0 active customers. Im pretty sure this customer will still be gambling with the same booky Skybet but I dont think that it is registering them in my control panel this season.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Ive asked affiliate hub to check and they just say that they havent bet anything but Im not sure if I beleive them.

Do players expire? e.g. do I only get commision for a year from each account? Im pretty sure it said life time commision when I signed up.

    Thanks

Because they consistantly bet all of last football season and during the worldcup so Id of thought theyd be back for the new season

I trust Sky, so I highly doubt anything underhand is going on. Players come and go, he may have found a new sign-up offer on another bookie and now uses them.
Long term player retention is difficult in this industry.

I don't think SkyBet ripped you off. Retaining players during a change of season is tricky, especially if the incumbent bookmaker does not have many specials or promotions aimed at existing customers.

If the player has been losing as it's time to redeposit then a quick look at a "new customer" bonus offer at another bookmaker can be enticing.

Programs like Bet365 and PaddyPower are better at retaining customers with regular promotions aimed at existing customers.

You should probably work on gaining more active customers and not relying on a single client making you cash. The player will be back if SkyBet's retention efforts are as good as a Bet365 or Bookmaker.eu....be patient

Yes, they do. The player might've found a better deal somewhere else. He might return at a later stage. In the meantime, work at getting more player signups, so you're not relying too much on a handle full of players.

What Gooner said. Some books just have a better strategy/experience retaining customers. As for skybet, I can vouch for them, as they are one of the few books i work with, and IA are always aware of wrong stats/bugs etc and fix them quickly.

You do not have to worry you are being cheated or anything, but you can request a checkup and a deeper look into that player's account. I'm sure they'd be happy to feed your concerns with the necessary information.

I have seen players like you described above disappear, and then later return in the next season and I have also seen cases where a player returns a few seasons later.

Think about things from the players perspective. I signed up to Bet365 many years ago (Probably under someone elses affiliate without knowing), and since then always lost more than i have won, but i always used to bet every week until i signed up to Betfair which allowed me to cash out etc;. Now i visit Bet365 less frequently. Maybe he just doesn't gamble as much now or like other people say, attracted to another bookie.

Also, have you considered that your punter may have been hit by a bus and will never ever place another bet again.

That's normal. I had a player on William Hill who played every single day for 2 years, he usually lost 2-3K in a month, and then suddenly he disappeared...

And then, after 3 or 4 months he was back, but this time he makes not more than 100 comission a month I assume he lost too much money, had a break, and now he's trying to play with small stakes, which makes sense
