Default A Risky Way To Make A Dollar On The Street!

So I was with a new friend of mine yesterday and we decided to go out for some dim sum (lunch) in China Town in my city of Toronto. As I was driving, we can see a guy with dreadlocks on the street with a huge jar in his hands and he was all dressed in yellow. We could see him reaching in and out of car windows with his hand and giving the driver something and in return receiving what obviously is money.

As we get closer I can see on his shirt "Joint for a Dollar" and he is holding a jar which looked like it held 400-500 joints in it.

My friend next to me knows I am the curious type. She says, close your window!

I was so curious as he was literally selling a few here and there at the stop light to drivers stopping. So when I got to the stop light luckily it was red and I had a chance to interact with him.

He first asked me - "hey you want a joint for a dollar?" I declined indicating I no longer take part but was curious how many he sells per day. He tells me he sells upwards of 1000 joints. OMG I think crazy!! I wanted to ask him more questions but my guest in the car was instructing me to drive as she said the light was green!

I got to thinking how is it possible to sell 1000 joints a day like that? Is it not illegal? Are people really that trusting to buy something like that out of a jar from a random guy!!!

Seems to me like a risky was to make a dollar LOL

I'm not sure who is taking the bigger risk. The guy selling the joints to passing car drivers in broad daylight with the risk of being robbed or arrested, or the drivers who are trusting a random drug dealer to sell them the genuine article? It's a crazy world.

Insanely risky and surely must be a short-lived operation before being busted. Still, if I was driving past, I'd probably ask how much for the entire jar.

I do not see a bigger risk buying a joint from some guy than buying random food from street vendor. Actually this is less risky, because it is hard to imagine some fake and toxic marihuana. It is possible to imagine common hemp without THC, but worth of the dollar.

It is crazy if he sold genuine stuff.

But I remember 1996, I just finished high school and there was a big issue that someone planted field of marihuana. There was no internet, no social networks, but normal newspaper wrote that in village XY is Z hectares of ganja. So I took a bicycle and drove 150 km there. It was spectacular, because there was a lot of exhausted policemen trying to defend the field and maybe 10x junkies like me.

The police was chasing us away like stray dogs. There were crazy things like me escaping on MTB over the rough field, chased by police sedan. Of course the sedan got stuck and right after they ****** it up even i fell to the head inside some big hole, but escaped.

We all waited for night of course and during the night police - really scared - gave up. Hundreds of people with plastic bags gathered inside the field like locusts.

Overnight I packed my bike with many kilograms of smelly cargo. Even after drying it was many kilos actually. Then I was giving away this stuff to whole town (it was not high quality but good enough), it even got its own name, sometimes someone even offered it back to me. Later I discovered that my father, mother and even brother were stealing from my sealed buckets and giving this away.

So maybe the guy had just more than he needed...
We are all bloodsucking ticks, hungry, devious
each one latched on to the ass of the previous
when the last and the first latch on it can be shown
ass-blood sucked by the first from the last is his own

Yeah while we were having lunch the women I was with felt it was extremely risky for the drivers buying it out their car windows. I dont know I just found it really bizarre but great lunch conversation for a short time LOL

Yeah, that is a crazy story. I guess that some people will do anything just to make some quick money.

Easy to reach demand and/or curiosity with such a low cost I guess. But time consuming and tedious if not exposed work ^^

I would have told him to spark one up, had a few tokes then bought a few from him if it was any good. Try before you buy

I would have bought one for a dollar.
What the hell, live a little!

In answer to your question, yes, it is absurdly risky no matter what the scenario (real weed, fake weed, whatever).

Sounds really sketchy and crazy. What is actually in the joints?

Why risk buying like that when here in Canada cannabis is now legal and can be purchased at legal vendors.

    Great story though!
