RSS Feeds - Getting your feed out there

    Hi everyone

I'm struggling to find some rather basic information about RSS feeds from a blog/news section I've set up on a new Wordpress site.

I've added the feed to Feedburner and want to know what I should do next in terms of trying to get the 'feeds out there'.

I see there are a number of RSS submission sites and wondered if this was a recommended thing to do?

Any advice and thoughts on the best approach would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

What exactly do you want to know about RSS feeds Buddy, can you be a little more specific. You said you added your feed to Feedburner which I'm sure you meant to say that you had burned your feed with Feedburner. Simply adding it to Feedburner does not really accomplish that much, but what did you do with it after that? I did not see your feed on either one of your websites that you have in your signature, why not? That is the first place you need to have it listed. There are many many other places you can list it as well too and it will show your last several feed items there. Also, did you set it up to Podcast it?

    Submit

Thanks for everyones input on this. To answer a few questions that have been asked by The GamblingGuru.

-Yes, I've burnt the feed to feedburner and that's about as much as I have done to date. The site has only just gone up and I'm not actively linking to it at the moment as I'm trying to iron out some minor issues with it.

-No, I haven't done a podcast - in fact I never really thought of it, but may give it a go.

Thanks for everyones thoughts and advice. I now understand I need to somehow distribute the RSS feed via submission sites.

I'm aware of the pitfalls of submitting your site to low quality directories. Does the same issue exist when submitting RSS feeds?

What sites do you recommend I submit the feeds to (with gambling news related content)?

Thanks for everyones input, its really appreciated.

In my opinion as an SEO, RSS feeds submission is best recommended for news posting website where most of their readers will more likely subscribe first to their rss.

for seo purposes, is a tad different, but you will get some linksf you rss feeds are "out side the box"

PS, for each site you can have more then one rss feed...think about it, and you might think aboutsoe kewl things to do... if you get stuck, Ill give you more info, but is more fun to learn on your own....

    ill give you one hint

Thaks - I'll look int that.

    Another question I've come across.

Do you recommend submitting a whole article via the rss feed or alternatively just submitting a summary of it with a link to the site to 'read more'?

    one more for you

    Go to http://howiespinger.com and
log in with: username: guest password: guest

Anyway, what this tool does is that it pings your feed PLUS that
it submits your RSS feed to dozens of RSS feed directories.

I recall attempting to use this service at one time. Over 50% of the submissions were not accepted. Befpre we get so deep into this auto-submission services... these are in my eyes just as bad as auto site submitters for your sites. If you use these auto jobbers are you not exposing yourself to the same evils you get from the crap auto submitters for websites? I say do not do it.

I have the max blog press whatever thingie on my blogs that pings the rss feed sites that accept pings when I publish and it is doing fine. I think if you get greedy, you might just get your fingers smacked.

I usually submit an article but I do post all the content. If you fill up the submission there are an option which is the resources section, there you can provide a live links directly to your site. That's another quality Backlinks you have for your site then.

    The general consensus

    Thanks for everyones thoughts.

The general consensus appears to be to include the full news entry rather than just a summary.

    Two questions then:

    1. Are there any seo implications relating to duplicate content (you have the news post on your site and its also distributed in exactly the sdame format across the web)

    2. Ive noticed that one or two of the super affiliates provide their feeds in a summary format only. What would make them want to pursue this path?

    Thanks
