Sell or carry on? If carry on tips would be welcome.

    Hi all

I have a few domains I've been updating infrequently for about 18 months.
Some are doing Ok - very targeted, some not so well.
i've got a few simple wordpress sites aimed at individual slots and games which are easy to update, catch a zeitgeist and make a few euros.

I also have some sites which I intended to grow but clearly I don't have the time or skills to grow them quickly.

One of them I have tried about 10 different wordpress templates on and can't find a decent one - either for the looks or SEO.

I'm currently debating whether I should plug away with the site - honestcasinoreviews - or get rid of it and concentrate on the others.

Any ideas as to what I might get for it?
Also any ideas for a good wordpress theme that looks ok and is user-friendly if I decide to keep it going?

    What would you do?

Thanks a lot for your advice!

I say carry on with your most targeted domains and work your way down. Good luck!

You should carry on, if you keep working on them, in the long term you will turn a profit. You could always use them as link dumps for your main sites. If you get rid of them you will regret it later.

As for wordpress themes, it's a tricky one as they are all pretty standardized...Personally i'd pay a few quid to have one personalized....at the very least stick a decent header on. As for SEO, the best easily implemented tips i can give are.....do not spam the shit out of the keywords....maximum 10 and they should appear in the body of the text...title should be no more than 60 characters max.....try not to use stop words like 'and'...

meta description.....max 160 characters....and whatever keywords you use in the title try and use them in the description....but in a legible sentence...use all the h tags 1 - 6.....try and use all the image alt tags....

There is a decent seo plugin for chrome browser...'seo site tools'....it allows you to check most of these things on the fly.....oooh one last thing....when you stick your affiliate links on escape all the ampersands......in laymans terms.....after '&' place 'amp;' that way you cut down on html errors and the page should validate better.....

    Thanks a lot guys.
After months of getting nothing on the honestcasinoreviews site i was going to flog it for €200 or something and then yesterday I got my first depositing and losing player and made more than that in commission. As long as it pays for the sites and hosting I'm over the moon.
    Hurrah!
    Cheers

That's fantastic news! It's so nice to hear you have decided to keep plugging away at your affiliate site projects. As you get more involved with building out your sites, and the comissions start rolling in, you'll see that it is all going to be worth while in the end! The great thing about this community is that everyone is happy to share ideas with one another - and sometimes you get a gem or two that pay off.

The key thing is to ensure you are effectively monetising the traffic coming to your site(s) so that you continually maximise the return on your time and efforts. It's great that you start out with a good solid idea or angle, but making this work against the 1000's of sites out there doing the same thing and capturing the right target audience is what makes the $ and cents roll in at the end of the day.

Best of luck with your affiliate journey - you'll see it's time well spent!

I would personally give them a go however it can be difficult to keep up with the time that it takes. I wouldn't get rid of them yet because they could turn out to be little gems however I would consider maybe trying to find a small time business partner to take some of the weight off your shoulders and give them a cut? It depends on which route you want to go down really. I wish you the best of luck.

Congratulations your your first depositor with honestcasinoreviews. Keep going, it takes a lot of time to build up a solid site un this industry. Not spreading yourself too thin is also a good idea, so focusing more on fewer projects will be very beneficial...

    I would stick with it.
The hard work will pay off, and like other say, if you sell them you will regret it down the road.
This is my second time in this industry and I can say I regret selling my origional sites years ago as well.
