    yeah right

Have that discussion with a Birmingham City fan and a Villa fan and see what they say

And for a team with 18 NON English players in its squad of 28 it sure is as English as you can get

Spurs are English owned and with just as much history, its just we were winning trophies as amatuers when your lot turned professional and won nothing.

And at 28000 capacity no wonder you fill your stadium out

    But heres an interesting fact

Your bigegst ever attendance was 64,815 when you BEAT beat Arsenal 3–1

Thats a very good statement and begs the question how far are you prepared to see your team drop to have it majority English.

I for one would draw the line at relegation but if it meant Spurs had a few years nearer the bottom of the table so that we could build a predominentyly English team i would be all for it.

Would Chelsea or Arsenal do that? course not, their shallow and fickle and dont care for English football only their own glory and it seems that policy is now starting to backfire big time.

In fact Spurs did have a big English contingent in their side under Jol and what did we do, sack him, buy more foreigners and drop down the table like a stone in water.

Very soon there will be a ruling on how many foreign players are allowed - this will certainly put the cat amongst the pigeons.

Be interesting to see the outcome then.

My beloved hockey team, the Detroit Red Wings, is filled with Swedes and Russians, and I love them because they play the game beautifully. And if they were gone and replaced by players who played the game with power, I would love them for that because I love my Red Wings. It doesn't matter to me where the talent comes from because in the end, the shirts they're wearing are ultimately more important than the players themselves (yes, that's a bit Seinfeldian, but work with me here). And quite frankly, regardless of sport, I'd rather see a league stocked with the best players the world has to offer than one without it. It makes the games that much more fun to watch.

The issues with foreign players here has come about because of the poor showing of the national team. We have too many foreigners playing in the premiership and the English national team has suffered - or so say the English who also think that the premiership is the best football league in the world.

I disagree with this to be honest as how many world cups have England actually won? That beats the hell out of their arguament. My home nation has actually 4 stars on its shirt, something the english can only dream of.

Serie A is without doubt the best league in the world and an influx of foreigners has done no harm to the Italian national side at all.

Foreign ownership is a diffferent matter, there are too many rich foreigners buying English clubs to have as a play thing that will easily be discarded. Chelski are now boring Roman and will soon change hands, they have not a lot of money to spend from him now either. Why, because he is getting bored. Liverpool are a mess, Stoke once sacked their manager because he would not buy foreign players, the list is endless and foreign ownersship is a disaster. Man city owned by a thai gangster etc etc etc

    Chalkie makes some good points

    Actually he makes none

For starters the Italian league is as boring as hell with massive diving, cheating, bribary and scandal with half empty stadiums and serious hooligan problems so he is speaking tosh, but then what would you expect from an Italian supporting West Brom fan.

The premiership is simply the best league in teh world, this is a fact proven by how many people world wide watch it, go to almost any country and given a choice they would prefer to watch a premiership game any day over a serie a game.

When Chalkie speaks about world cups it all of a sudden becomes important how many they ahve won when talking about Italy but not when talking about WBA, mmm strange that

But he is right the foreign influence is starting to ruin English football and when teams like Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool the three main culprits continue a policy of buying up crap youngsters when selling young english players that are just as good if not better then it will effect the English national team.

But foreigners are not the main problem for the national team, the main problem for the national team is the over paid w****rs that play better for their clubs than they do for their national team.

They ahve no pride and just care about their big cars and income and these players for the main part play are the few englishmen that do indeed play for arsenal, chelsea, liveroool and man utd.

Nobody wants to buy WBA i have like $200 in my pockets i would want change.....

Now you get Cat Deeley in a football kit running around on the pitch prior to the game then i will stop, in fact I would even go and watch WBA and double teh attendance.

You will also find that WBA are the better supported club, every team always comments on this! We may not have the success that you have but our fans are diehard and you will never find an empty seat when we travel away. Our season tickets are sold out each season before the end of the previous season.

Our fans are mainly local black country folk living within a few miles of the shrine known as the Hawthorns - which happens to be the highest ground in the country.

And Frank Skinner and Cat Deeley support us too! MOTD2 is presented by a Baggies fan too!

The reason your team is built upon youngsters is becausr you have no cash to buy top class players.....

I am all battered and bruised now!

Please note, i am Sicilian not Italian btw.

The serie A is that un popular in the UK it has its own live TV show on terrestrial television!

In West Brom you will find a club that is in the black not the red! We are a profitable company unlike most other prem clubs.

We have a set up that will find great talent and now a board and manager that will keep them.

I cannot promise Cat deeley but the T-Mobile cheerleaders are an awesome sight.

The best thing to do with your £200 is to put it on villa finishing higher than the gunners doubled with Spurs finishing below the hammers. Or on Chelski not winning the title.

Agreed English players are a money grabbing bunch of idle youngsters, however, the foreign managers that begrudge them playing for their country make them worse.

"I dont want my player to play for England in a friendly because he has a team game in 3 weeks too!"

Didn't I hear on the radio this morning that Arsenal smashed some team 3-1 or 3-0 over the weekend? I remember smiling in an evil way while listening...

Very true we did win 3 - 0 over the weekend but many on this thread forget about that.

Renne the only down side was that the team we nailed are crap not as bad as W.B.A but still pretty crap.
