I keep hoping this fad will pass but apparently I'm going to have to break down and get an account at facebook and the seemingly ever-increasing social sites.
I read yesterday by (admittedly) a self-appointed traffic guru that social networks are ... I believe close to his exact words were " a lot of fun but I have yet to meet anybody who has made a commercial success of them (besides the site owners).
I must agree.
That said I think it will either get to a point where you need to be listed or not be found and its likely people may search on these social networks as a means of researching the people they are choosing to support ... if not so much now then coming soon.
I've not spent any time on them but I imagine if you wanted some dirt on somebody ... especially the kind you don't find in newspapers ... or if you just wanted an idea of the personality behind the name ... these would be great places to start looking.
Angles and opinions probably not commonly found on affiliate or watchdog type sites. A great added tool if you're researching and want more than a black and white type of opinions (in other words sites either selling it ... or putting it down because they're selling something else).
