Default Spanish online gaming revenue in Q1 jumps 28%

Online gaming revenue in Spain hit the 163.3 million euros mark in Q1. While that figure was a 5.69% drop when compared to the previous quarter, it marked an increase of 28.85% when compared to the corresponding period in 2017.

According to the Directorate General for the Regulation of Gambling (DGOJ), the growth is "due exclusively to the counterpart sports bets, both conventional bets that grow 13.35% and live bets with growth of 18.84%."

Bingo also continues to experience huge growth with an annual variation rate of 29.87%. This keeps the trend that began in 2016.

    From European Gaming:

In the casino segment, the highest growth occurred in the first quarter of 2018 with an annual variation rate of 51.02 per cent. This situation occurs since 2015 with annual growth rates in the first quarter of 38.62 per cent in 2015; 105.04 per cent in 2016; 49.00 per cent in 2017. This growth is mainly due to the behaviour of the machines of chance since its launch in production in 2015 and has led to increasingly higher market shares of the casino compared to the rest of the segments.
The poker presents this first quarter behaviour somewhat different from previous years, since with an annual variation rate of 41.59 per cent for the first time achieved a growth close to the rest of the games. This seems to reverse the downward trend of previous years already weakly started in the first quarter of 2017 (the annual variation rates in the first quarter were −5.00 per cent in 2015, −12.03 per cent in 2016, and 2. 51 per cent in 2017).

That's great news. Hopefully, this industry will continue to grow and become even more successful.

It would be nice to see how the market works in the next months with the shared liquidity; right now only two major sites (Stars and Party) are working with pooled markets but in the next months the expectations are high, and in this way the authorities will really see if the gaming business works (of course it will work, but they now will see )

Does anyone work with Spanish traffic? I'm assuming the sites would have to all be in Spanish right?

Joe Harris, I work with sone Spanish traffic, and you're right when you assume that the sites would all have to be in the Spanish language.

Yep this sites gotta be 100% focused in Spain so, not only Spanish language but regulation, law, taxes, etc must be considered.
