Hi there,
I have been wondering the same thing for my domain -- Sportsbettingsite.org
From what I can tell most people are using wordpress and seem to like all the plugins avail. I personally never use wordpress but may decide to use it
for this particular site and see how it turns out. There is for sure allot for support for wordpress.
Joomla is another option that i have used and is pretty easy to set up.
I would say it all depends on your budget, if you have one, or if you intend doing all the work yourself.
I do all my own work and have found WordPress to be very versatile. There are numerous free and premium themes and plugins that you can use to get your website up and running very quickly. Search engines also seem to love WP and most of my WP sites were indexed partly within the first twenty four hours. Once your site is established and you publish posts on a regular basis some of the new posts may even be indexed within an hour.

Thanks GFPC,
This was a very fast reply. Great to be a part of this community.
Also, nice domain name there.
I want to research to the best possible initially before launching SBG.
Btw, what niches are you looking to work on and which are the best in Sports betting ?
We have done Sports betting content work for some established players earlier but have always been lazy about starting our own.
Now, we have set a target to launch it in max 3 months from now.
Research work is on.
Do let me know if you need to outsource content for your site in future.
Thanks again.
I am a relative newbie. I know WP is the most popular option by far. I found Joomla a bit of a steep learning curve initially, but well worth it. It's great if you want to run a membership system or similar. I haven't used WP all that much but I know it has improved a lot recently.

Out of the box, none of the above mentioned systems are particularly SEO friendly.
You should have all aspects of on-page SEO which you want to cover in your requirements documents prior to development, - then create a little table/matrix which shows which CMS offers inbuilt or plugin capability to meet your seo requirements. This should help your decide which CMS gives the most flexibility/has the plugins/hackability that you need to implement your on-site SEO.
Personally, I used wordpress for my own sportsbetting site because I'm familiar with it, it has copious SEO plugins, and it's easy to hack. I did add a lot of custom stuff ( e.g. microformats, custom breadcrumbs and so on..) - as I am sure you will have to do also!
best of luck with your project.

While I dont use wordpress for my main money site I do own a handful of WP sites because they are easy and cheap to put together. Having said that the benefit of WP is really the plugins which can give you an SEO wet dream in terms of how many optimal things you can do with it depending on what your needs and goals are. If you need some consulting and help I can offer my services/advice.

Thanks for the reply bonusbetting.
Guess you are using Joomla for your portal ?
Thank you for your valuable opinion.
I would surely keep in touch.
Yes, it's on Joomla. I don't claim to be an expert, but there are several SEF plugins and tools for Joomla which seem to work well.

Word Press is easier but Joomla gives you more scope to make a full scale site. If you are a novice I suggest word press using SEO plug-ins and link building yourself.

It really depends what you want the site to be - if you want just articles, reviews and blog posts then I say go for wordpress, it's much simpler and it's faster.
On the other hand if you want any kind of membership system (ranging from the simple all the way up to a facebook style social networking site) then joomla is for you. You have way more control in joomla too - such as creating widgets/modules which only display on certain pages, or even only on certain days. Joomla is quite resource hungry though...

Thank you Simon. Our aim would be to build a full scale site and we are in the planning phase presently.
Also, it would be great if you can give your opinion on the domain we intend to build on Sportsbettingguide dot org.
Initially, me and my partner were thinking of selling this domain but we feel that it might be more valuable for us if developed.
Also, what sports do you suggest we should initially focus on promoting and what should be the strategy.
What kind of market do you see for Cricket betting ?
Are those players valuable and how do they convert ?
And surely, I would keep BetOnline on our list.
We are presently doing research and would start signing up as affiliates in some time and I would buzz you.
Thanks again.

or you can use PHP.
if you want to build a bespoke power site, you will inevitably have to roll up your sleeves and do some coding/hacking or rent a hacker

hi
I want to make betting web site in Joomla CMS but I don,t know how editing beting on games works inside of joomla
I mean I don,t know to edit game bet and how to put games result do I need module or plugin for that?
I know that administator can edit game results and bets how how it works in joomla
please explain to me Thanks
Wordpress or Joomla, stay away from a custom CMS, just don't do it, a lot of huge brands build around Joomla these days, if you know what you're doing that is probably the best one to use.
You won't go wrong using wordpress.
