    Squidoo Lens?

How effective is Squidoo Lens by the way? I already created my own lens, and look there are lots of good stuff that you've got there. I mean, its a WYSIWYG networks. You can even provide links and you can customize your page. It embeds with few of some HTML code that's why its cool.

I didnt have real good success with it when it was very popular. I had a niche, but could easily outrank that with my own site.

The problem is that you still have to get inbound links to that lens for it to rank well. That was my impression, anyway.

I made a couple lenses a year or two ago and haven't had much luck with it. It doesn't cost anything, so I figured it was worth a try.

I tried to make one a few days ago, but they denied it due to the fact that it promotes "casino or gambling". I think their policies must have changed, because they did not allow me to make one.

Yes - I also created an Online Gambling Lens a long while back (maybe 1-2 years ago).

About six months after I started - I could not submit an update because of some issues with T&C's about gambling - but they have still left the old lens there.

Fortunately, I'd used RSS feeds to populate most of it - so updated content appears in there when we add it into our main sites.

Unfortunately, I never really see any traffic from the Online Gambling Lens either.

yah. you totally right. gambling promotion is not advisable in Squidoo. I'd work on a gambling site and try to create a lens but I'd seen some rejection after posting. So I'd rather drop it off and create a personalized lens my own.

Do some effective promotions. If your lens is focusing on a certain niche, try to look for a related community network and expose your lens. But make sure that your lens is creative enough, full with informative post not only the idea of attracting visitors with those promotions but also allowing them to gain something on your site with those informative entries. One thing more, comment on others lens, suggest any ideas that you think is lack on their lens so that eventually your lens have the change to be recognize and be viewed, that will be a plus points for you and at the end you finally collects a rankings based on others vote.

I also created a lens on gambling which was rejected because gambling is considered as 'spam' although if you search there using 'casino' as keyword you get plenty of articles.

You will find that those lenses that come up when you type in casino have actually been up for a couple years before Squidoo changed their terms and conditions for Gambling / Casino websites. I have never had much luck with Squidoo for generating traffic in any of my niches though. I hear great things about Hubpages though, mainly about the ability to generate a steady flow of traffic. Although I have the understanding that they too are not friendly towards Gambling.

HubPages followed Squidoo on the gambling terms and conditions and removed a few pages I had constructed.

Lenses in Squidoo often get removed as well, when they come across them although I've still a few from the first few months - can't update them though.

seoinxs - I think you can claim your cash with Paypal. I used to but the amounts were so low, I now donate them all to the various charities on there.

I recently tried to create a squidoo lens and can further confirm they don't allow things that look gambling related.

Just got an email from Squidoo saying that they're closing down my old gambling lens unless I wanted to reply to them saying why it didn't breach their T&C's.

I replied saying that they shouldn't try and export their conservative US value set to a global audience and that online gaming is a vibrant, licensed, legal and exciting industry on the rest of the planet.

Applying a blinkered view will ensure that they to remain a US-only focused product during the times of domestic US recession and that was hardly a good commercial move ...

I guess my lens will be deleted after that ...

How do you do that if your niche is related to gambling which is blocked by Squidoo?

My 2 year old (or thereabouts) Lens was deleted last week with a message saying it breached their TOC's.

Didn't matter much to me, though. I never got much traffic anyway from it.

Since the release of squidoo, they actually ban certain words that has a connection in gambling. Check the lens categories, there's no such thing as gambling option in there.
