People who buy lists like that get scammed a lot themselves. There is no way to verify the list until after you use it, it may be donkey's years old and useless.

From: s p [(edited to remove spammer's contact details)]
Sent: Thursday, July 02, 2009 7:33 PM
Subject: Poker and casino lists for sale

Poker and casino lists of real money players and signups for sale - various platforms; US or non US with email, phone, postal address.

Now what concerns me is that this is a new email, i have emailed almost nobody with it and it is the same guy.......

its a SCAM.

If this jerk could steal player info from all those casino groups he could just steal money instead... and save himself the trouble of having to sell 'stolen' data.

He is also letting you 'know' without any doubt that the data is stolen, so when you find the data is totally bogus and you got ripped off, you won't say anything to anybody.

Good point lotso. To me whoever buys these are just as guilty as the sellers. They better just hope they don't get caught. Their name will be ruined for a very very long time to come.

Just a little insight. This happens far more then you will ever know.

A while back a similar event like this happened BUT one of the casinos effected decided to sue. A significant sum, 8 figures. Yes, sue the data thief.

Name,, address, username, credit card numbers, deposit and withdrawl history, everything on record was stolen and sold.

I was brought in and 'certified' by the court as an expert witness in the online gaming field

Over 6 hours of hostile depostion. Not fun. Even

Long story short there was an out of court settlement.

The 'surprise' was in how they got the data. They got it from a data center tech. You know, one of all those underpaid even remotely located in an impoverished third world country people that have root access to most every server in the dc. The guy you call when your site is down. Yup them.

Very easy to burn a cd or now a flash drive with all the data with no one ever knowing and sell it off. Well one of them had a friend who was one of those 'master affiliates' and they worked out a deal for a % of various gaming sites data to be slowly copied and sold off. Most in 50-100K lists.

No data is safe when the barn is open. Someday we will see bonded data centers but not until millions of peoples information is stolen.

This is a scam to get your cash!

If you really had the lists, you would use them yourself and try to market the casinos/poker sites. Of course, if you had spammed them to dealt then you might consider selling them on.

Worthless trash!!

Exclamation Rogue Affiliates and Casino Employees

I have previously worked at a casino before I started doing outsourced SEO work for casinos.

All the hard work that we are doing to send players legitematly to a casino gets waisted when a list gets stolen. (It impacts everyone involved except the Rogue Affiliate - even the casino who buy the list will likely loose in the long run because the money paid to the rogue affiliate is used, to bribe the marketer to give the casino list to the Rogue Affiliate!)

Problems that I have identified making it easy for people to obtain such data:
  1. The Casino Employees have access to information which should be confidential or worked through a system where the affiliate managers / support personel cannot see the details of a player - "like a cms that controls all correspondence, never showing email"
  2. Casino Employees can see which players are VIP and Valuable players - So they can steal 1 player per day = 30 per month, can be a good business for affiliates.
  3. Some affiliates make contact with the "Marketing People" working at the casinos, and these "marketing people" sometimes earn ridiculous salaries, and the Affiliate will simply bribe the "Employee" for players.
  4. The list is "Bogus" but the Rogue Affiliate will say to the casino they will do a test run - Then the affiliate himself will get him and his (corrupt) team to make a few small deposits and some big deposits and the casino would be fooled into beleiving the affiliate have a quality list - so the list will be sold for $10 000.00 from which the affiliate will deposit $3 000.00 into the casino from his own account and will tell the "potential" client that he only did a test on 500 players in the list...
We get approached on a monthly basis by employees from the casinos that we work with, or had work with...

To help them with their sites (SEO) trying to bribe a deal with a list from the casino!

I agree somehow the industry should clean itself! Casinos go Rogue because of these practices - and some feel closing the affiliate side of their business is a way to clean it up! "Some casinos think that all affiliates are scum, because of these practices!)
