Trying to open a Casino Portal... Any suggestions appreciated

    Hello there everyone,

I have been a webmaster since 1997, got into the gambling industry in 2007 because of my love for Poker. I have stuck pretty much only to poker when promoting sites, but now I have ventured into the casino promotion as well. I know most of the people on here seem to be into the casino portals, so I ask... What tips do you guys have to make this an easier venture for me?

Here is the site I am developing... http://www.casino-stats.com

It looks like crap, and I hit a road block with it... I just don't know enough about the online casinos to figure out what people want...

Once again... any suggestions would be appreciated very much.
    My 2 cents!

I'd remove the "Under construction" for now. There is a short window of opportunity to get content established with a live site because eventually the search engines will crawl it and if the snippet "under construction" appears anywhere in the SERPS you're surely going to turn away potential visitors.

Casino players and poker players are quite different in what they are looking for on a website. Poker players many time are looking for more information and strategy type articles whereas many casino players are looking for more entertainment and bonus type information. I think specifically slots players are looking for nice colors, an attractive layout that looks "fun". Using nice imagery can help convert a casino player.

    Kind Regards,

    Hi PokerAddictz,

Good start. To begin with, the #1 pick.. etc.. is good (on the right). Now add why you say they are #1. Add text and a link to a full review. Add keywords but also talk to the player like you would like to read yourself as a player.

Hope that helps to start a little.

    Thanks Mojo... good advice...

I am trying to make reviews... but I don't know about any of these sites. I have never played at any online casino for real money... does anyone know how I could get reviews for all of these casino sites without stealing content? I hate that... I was able to find a few reviews on the affiliate sites themselves, but they are biased reviews...

I have a reviews area that is blank currently... LOL

    question:

Do you like casinos yourself? I love to gamble. Big time.

My favorite game is craps, and is a niche I push hard. Not as boig as others, but most people skip it so good for me. i have sites about dice control, etc and get a ton of traffic.

reason i ask this, is I see most people marketing things they don't like, or do not know about seem ot ave the hardest time. Go to a local casino if you have one...walk around, listen, pay attention.

If you do not have the time, read a lot about casinos, on forums, but not here. we all sales people. go to forums where PLAYERS talk..Do the three L's: Lurk, listen, learn

    My 2 cents, good luck

To answer your question... I do like casinos alot... I go to the B&M casinos whenever I can get the chance, but I do not play online... This is a big reason for starting this thread... I don't know the inner workings of a real live casino, and I haven't delved into the casino promotions online before, so I am kinda clueless. I have played poker online for at least 5 years now, so I know alot about the players, types of games, and such... but not a clue about the casino software and that type of thing...

    Thanks

There, I made it wider... I can't go too much wider because some ppl still use 800x600 screen resolution. I think 780px is the widest I can go because of that.

Well, at least you like land based casinos, going to online will be a bit to get used to.

Next i would suggest to go donwload (free of course) some of the game platforms out there, from RTG, Microgaming, Rival, Playtech, etc etc, and see what you like yourself.

If you in th eUSA, and want to test a site that takes non usa players, play around with TOR for firefox, and you will be able to.

Online players and landbased players have the same basic , dreams, desires. Infact my new sites i have my own personal thing I follow

    Discover what the players want
Desging the site and promtions for them
    Deliver offers to them often:
    Dreams
    Desires
    Destiny

To my knoweldge, I orignated the above. I presented it at a pubcon about 10 years ago, add I have it hanging on my wall. Is a working forumla

If you want some other good basic webbuilding / cnvertin slaes letters/ how to write good content, let me know Ill fire up some torrents for you.

    And again, good luck!

I would like to make a few suggestions that could be usefull for you.

    1. Decide what kind of content you will provide on your website.

    - for example you can include articles regarding "how to" play various casino games /slot machines, roulette, craps, blackjack, baccarat/.
    -gambling related news
    -casino/poker reviews
    -casino/poker bonuses

    2. Start to write the artciles or hire someone else to do it for you

    3. When the content is written just implement it on the site.
    - you should develop a friendly navigation that will allow you customers to
cross over the content without any difficulties.

    4. What people like?

-every useful and original information according to their current needs: someone can search for casino review X, casino bonus Y, someone else wants to know how to play craps, or just needs to improve his knowledje reading more articles related to this niche.

    Regards,
    Ivaylo
