    Twitter advice needed!

Ok so I figured it's probably about time for me to start using this here twitter thing that all y'all kids be yapping on about these days

My main site has sections on sports, casino, poker and bingo. Is it better to have one twitter account for the whole site, or split it into 4 separate accounts, one for each category?

Second. What kind of things do you tweet about? Articles you post and promos, or just randomness?

I personally would have seperate accounts ,this way i can gather followers in specific catagories ( more work but i think much more useful!)

you should NOT only tweet about an article or a promo only .Think if you followed somebody what would you want to hear!

And I make some nice income from twitter !

Thanks! By income do you mean in the traffic your site receives from twitter, or something else? Also with promos, exclusive or otherwise, can you post aff links or do they need to click through to your site and then again to the promo?

I would think you should send traffic to your site , Most Igaming feel that affiliate links on twitter is spamming

Link directly to the promo or the article

If your categories are very diverse - then it might be good to have multiple twitter accounts.

Also tweet about news, and try to interact with people who are tweeting about what you are about.
So if you are about Sports Tips - follow and get involved in peoples conversations interested in sports that you give tips about.
Also you want to send people from your twitter account to your website.

So you might do something like this

Latest Tips for the weekend are out! Brisbane Broncos v Melbourne Storm. Get all the odds here : [some link here]
Huge news, scientists discovery that the NSW Blues are really wet paper bags. Read the article here [some link here]

If Janice on Twitter makes a comment such as
"love the brisbane broncos. i hate how people compare darren lockyer and god. its not fair on god."

    you might reply to Janice
"go the broncos, looking forward to their game this weekend. I have my money on them"

The whole thing about twitter is, getting people who want to hear about you have to talk about, and what you have to say. You have to go out there and let the world know.

    Twitter Advice

I'd recommend using some sort of Twitter/Social Media dashboard like HootSuite.com, it's what we use at Betfred Affiliates. Can be especially useful if you decide to run multiple accounts as it makes this task much easier and less time consuming.

You can also use it to manage other social media accounts like Facebook and Facebook pages, LinkedIn, Wordpress etc

For me the top benefits of Hootsuite are:
    • Price - Great free version as well as a paid upgrade
    • Schedule in advance - specify the exact time and date in the future you want to send tweets or Fb posts. I spend an hour at the start of the week scheduling all the planned tweets and posts leaving me free to throw up the odd ad-hoc thing I find here and there as it happens.
    • Search - very intuitive search function which you can use to see who out there is talking about the same subjects as you so it can be easier to find people to follow (hopefully they'll follow you back)
    • Reputation Management - I can see every mention out there of the word 'Betfred' in the twittersphere and see if it needs a direct response from me, Customer Service, PR dept etc
    • Analytics- There is a certain amount of analytical tools available in the free version and enhanced reporting in the Pro upgrade, check which tweets actually drove the most clicks to your site and where they came from.
    • Portability - With free fully-functioning apps available for Hootsuite on iPhone, Android, BlackBerry and iPad, you can take your Social Media Management with you wherever you go and react immediately on the move.

There is a HootSuite BLOG and also a YOUTUBE Channel where you'l find advice on setting up and getting started

Paid version hootsuite.com is only an extra $6 month.. its great for tweeting, and facebook to multiple accounts - but I find if you want to grow your accounts and add members, its best to log in to the account via twitter and find and add members.

But if you are just posting tweets and articles - hootsuite is awesome.

    Nice one Bladidiot!

Would also recommend signing up to the following sites:

    http://www.hubspot.com/
    http://www.socialmediaexaminer.com/
    http://www.marismith.com/
    http://danzarrella.com/

All of them have a wide variety of reports, data and case studies available to download which can inform your social media activities. Also, I recommend signing up to receive their emails as they are regularly full of useful hints and tips. If you PM me an email address I'll send over some of the things I've found - haven't read them all but you can decide if you are able to make use of them!

Finally, if you really want to stay ahead then you absolutely MUST get over to our facebook page and click 'Like'!

Ok, Ok - it's not an absolute requirement but we currently have 96 likes and I'm trying to break the Magic Ton by the end of the week

    Talking about content ideas.....

I saw this earlier and thought it could make an excellent basis for some content ideas - I'll be posting the link on Fb and twitter soon but take a look and see if it helps:

Just be cautious on software solutions to help build followers on Twitter. Tested ourselves and read reports on a good majority (70%) end up as some form of direct marketing / online marketing accounts - irrelevant and no quality. Similar to SEO, take your time, best practice and slowly build a quality list of followers - not quantity.
