    Twitter page is PR4 !

I got a shock when I opened my Twitter page while on my SEO search engine, and saw it is PR4!

The thing is: the only place i have EVER posted a link to my Twitter homepage was on the "Twitter page" thread on GPWA!

May the force be with you.......

Which site do you use to measure your twitter pr? I use prchecker and get a N/a instead of "0" - which I assume it doesn't measure twitter pages.

Same here. I was really surprised. I think it's the only positive experience I have from using twitter.

I use a Chrome Plug-in called iPageRank when i'm browsing, but for individual pages prchecker (dot) info is always accurate.

If you want to check its working then put my twitter page in (/JustArsenal) and see it is PR4 first!

I think that the page rank estimator must a bit biased with twitter.... I just checked a couple of accounts that have just a couple tweets and are a couple months old and also show a PR of 4. Interesting...

About 8-9 months old now I guess. I only have 545 followers so far, so i imagine there is still room for improvement. I don't know if its a factor but I have been added to 42 lists by other people. That may be a determinant?

Just as an aside. All my posts go to Twitter, and then onto Facebook, so I checked the Facebook PR, and its PR3.

I wonder what it all means.......

One of my twitter pages is pr 4 also. I am barely following anybody but I have a few people following me. The more people you have following you with a high PR will give your page more authority. Its kind of like they are giving you a back link when they decide to follow you.

I tried to find out what my twitter page rank was and it said N/A. I think after a while twitter pages are marked to not have a pagerank.

I was kinda hoping to see mine have a 4 too! lol

Busy twitter profiles used to garner good PR. I notice this with some of the twitter profiles I created.

I used to rely on the PR check tool prchecker.info provides just in case I am doubtful with what search status and google toolbar PR indicator is returning when viewing a page I want to identify the PR.

Anyways, I really don't understand the necessity of getting your twitter page with good PR. IMO, with or without PR, twitter page won't give you any benefit in terms of link juices as the links added to them are cloaked, shortened, redirected, and not followed. Furthermore, PR is not an indicator that identifies how your twitter profile/page is rank on SERP.

On the flip side, I'd rather care about getting a lot of followers over that green bar.

I use a Mozilla add-on called Live PR, it shows any PR correctly! Prchecker and Checkpagerank are wrong about twitter sometimes.

    Interesting.

Several weeks ago, there was an online poll in a newspaper that is based in a very computer-literate part of the USA. The topic was Twitter.

Overwhelmingly, the respondents had negative views about the "overall value" of Twitter.

Yeah, does not really matter what PR your twitter page is, it will not pass any PR to outgoing sites so there is not much that can be done with it really.

Just on the twitter topic - What's a PR on twitter age worth anyway. All links are 'nofollow'. So even a PR of 9 wouldn't do you any good, or am I wrong?

    Cheers

Well a nofollow is telling Google you dont know that you can trust that link. But if Google knows that site is trustworthy already, would it not possibly overrule you?

Secondly, is nofollow only a Google thing? How do Yahoo/Bing look at it?

I believe Bing will follow the link but not count the link. ( Sorry would quote that one for sure but can't find one from Bing lol - maybe someone else can chime in re bing)

    Yahoo

The search crawler web crawler obeys the rel="nofollow" attribute for links. Web publishers and blog owners can apply a rel="nofollow" attribute to any hyperlink on their page to indicate that the link may not be an approved or trusted link.
Note: the search crawler may use a "nofollow" link for discovering content, but the link will not be considered an "approved" link for consideration when ranking the target page.
