Which social network do you prefere? twitter or facebook?
I enjoy and use both, but for different reasons.
Facebook allows you to be more involved with your [friends] by creating [Pages and Groups].
Twitter allows me to find like-minded individuals that may have knowledge I'm seeking in a particular area and has a variety of tools to assist in marketing, etc.

Yes, it is. Just asking whether do you prefere some of those, and in which way..
If I was going to pick one, it would be facebook.
The facebook updates are just like tweets. There is so much more to facebook.

I agree they are completely different...
BUT I have to say facebook. Twitter seems to be solely a place for advertisers to promote crap to other advertisers. People "follow" you, just hoping you follow them... So 99% of your followers probably dont care what you are tweeting!
In other words, I see twitter as a fad... facebook is the new google.
I agree, both are very different. I use facebook for personal family and friends. I haven't gone commercial with it yet. Twitter is all commercial for me. I don't think it's going to get much bigger than it is now.

I have not even started to look at Twitter seems a bit crap to me, I am a facebook addict it also has been a great way fro my family in the UK to keep up with when we had been in Costa Rica and now of course Estonia.

Some webmasters say that Twitter is more to traffic goal than a good social networking services.
Hey Guys, there are some good points being made here. I think from a companies perspective social media is all a piece of the overall marketing plan. The use facebook to build a community and a brand, then twitter to move out new offers and 'up to the minute' news. Integrating those into your site, and overall marketing plan is the key.
Most people just dont know what they want out of each medium. That's what they get lost in technology-land lol.

I find Twitter more valuable for time-sensitive news, announcements and reminders, but Facebook has adjusted well to support this trend as well. I also find Facebook far more effective for networking and one-on-one communication.
Based on how I see you using these tools on your site, Twitter is probably more effective.
It would be interesting to hear how effective Twitter or/vs Facebook has been for affiliates to send traffic and convert players. Any feedback?
To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of either of them, but I'd choose Facebook over Twitter.
To break down my gripes with both services:
Seems like a glorified status update (i.e. already a feature provided on Facebook)
I think it's great for poker pros who want to Tweet during a tournament and keep the fans aware of chip counts and so forth.
But aside from that, I don't care that you ate eggs for breakfast, I don't care that you have an affiliate link you want me to click, etc.
Too spammy, and too focused on "let me tell you that I'm picking my nose right now, I don't care to actually interact with you directly or hear what you're doing, I only use this site to promote ME!"
Initially I was obsessed with this. It was amazing to connect with so many people from my past and see what they were doing now.
But after the starry eyes wore off, I found a lot of low-value member interactions and tons of spam.
I don't want to throw snowballs at you, stop throwing them @ me. I don't want to join your pirate ship crew or your mob.
And I certainly don't want to be invited to yet another spam-focused group that has a sole purpose of selling me on some product, service or brand, while not actually serving any other function.
Is anyone finding Groups on facebook to be worthwhile? In my experience there is usually very little activity or content in them, and they're just used to touch upon a fad or push advertising on people.
All of the above being said, I still utilize both services to an extent, but I'm not enthralled or hooked by either of them.
I really like Twitter, I just find it's really good like Ryan said to get an important update out to your followers instantly, rather than sifting through the clutter that Facebook can sometimes be.
Having said that, from a networking perspective Facebook is great - although I don't use it. I quite prefer Linkedin for business related contacts and networking.
Twitter is fun I suppose, not much to it. I have it automatically update my facebook status and use the Betwittered add-on for iGoogle so I never have to actually go to the Twitter site.
The Positive about Twitter is that is doesn't have MafiaWars which is a MAJOR time suck for me
The Positive about Facebooks is that it has MafiaWars
Seriously though, Facebook is great for building groups and brands as mentioned earlier, twitter to me is quite simply an announcement factory, great when i have something I need to get out real fast, but I think its a little too basic to properly promote on
I'm a huge fan of both, but I have to say, Twitter has been really great to me in the past few months, so it is currently edging out Facebook.
For me, Facebook is for my friends and family, more of a general way to chat across country lines.
In contrast, Twitter can be used as a commercial application where Facebook cannot. For our industry, Twitter works as a way to get involved in the latest news, post new information about promotions, and generally check up on what is going on. The best part-it is in real time, people retweet and click on links with trackers, so some effects can be measured.
I'm not sure how many of you have Twitter, but following the WSOP was made significantly easier on Twitter. All the players, fans, blogs, etc. were posting information. It's this type of information that is not as easy to come by on Facebook that makes Twitter pretty awesome!![]()
