UK conference London - How about a change!

Well, the UK conferences always seem to be top events.

So with that in mind, would people agree with me that it was about time that a different part of the UK had a chance to host 1?

Or would we agree with that O'Neil fella that there is nothing outside of London.

Be nice for all the visitors to the UK to take in some of the better parts of the UK instead of leaving with the impression that the UK is like London, when it is not!

Birmingham has easy access and a great nightlife, however, costs about 30% less.

The only easy access in Birmingham is the woman ....LOL as for night life if you like drinking cheap flat beer in workermans clubs that talk about crap football and play snooker then fill your boots and go to Birimingham.

By the way if you do go I strongly advice you to wear old clothing and take nothing of value not even your cell phone as you will get mugged and it will be stolen...

    Typical Southerners response!

Birmingham has masses to offer, we even have a Gondola!

More casinos in the city than London can claim in their city. Masses of decent night clubs, restaurants etc.

Home to The National Exhibition Centre, with a very large international airport and rail station on site along with multiple hotels too!

Then there is the real history in the region, where the industrial revolution started and much more.

People are much more friendly and the city is much safer than London!

It is also central for touring the whole county, not just the southern rather shabby parts.

... and you could even take in a Baggies match too!

It don't matter to me either way as I only go for the days of the conferences (mostly skipping the Sunday events to get back home to my family) and I rarely go out site-seeing or partying outside of the event because I'm a boring 'one shot wonder' type of person.

I do like to be familure with a spot because going to a new Country or Region alone can be scary, nerve wracking and make you want to turn around and get back on the plane and go home like I wanted to do on my first London trip! LOL

Thank God for Nicole, Deb & Christine!

Well thats even more reason to support Birmingham then, as the airport, conference centre and hotels are all on the same site more or less.

You will be having more than 1 shot over in London next year btw!

I would just like to put forward "HULL" as the next best choice for the affiliate conference apart from the expensive hotels and te cost of transport, food, beer and just about everything in London.

Hull as it all and more:

Click on the following links and just look at what Hull as to offer as well as one of the best Poker players in the world Dave "Devilfish" Ulliott.

Hull also has its own International Airport:

    http://www.humbersideairport.com/huyweb.nsf

Also, just check out the many attractions also the city has to offer:

    http://www.iknow-yorkshire.co.uk/att..._specialities/

Have a great week to all and as I said before...............we also should look at one up in Scotland............food for thought

Just to continue with my thoughts on a New venue for the affiliate conference because I get the feeling that its time for a change and a "Change is better than a rest"

Hull is my number one choice for the new venue, not only is it accessable for most European's to jump over the Channel, which a large amount of affiliates are from.

Check out the conference center here:

    http://www.hullcc.gov.uk/hcb/rightvenue.php

Have a great week and lets have all our suggestions

Well, Birmingham has so much more to offer than both Hull and London!

Travelwise, much bigger airport than Hull and easy access to Brum from all destinations just like any London airport.

Linked to europe by eurostar rail or just a 3 hour drive from dover which is only a 90 minute ferry crossing from continental europe, unlike hull which is a min 12 hour crossing through the dreaded north sea.

Brum is not a little village in a small county on the edge of behond boasting only smelly fish and a possibly smelly poker player

Brum is the centre of the UK, with a proper convention centre, THE National Exibition Centre, a very slick city with the Bull Ring shopping centre too! Offering House Of Fraser and other big name store not just Lidl, Aldi and Berts corner shop!

Birmingham has the world famous jewellry quarter too, where you can get your bling cusom made even.

Then we have the black country museum where you can live the industrial revolution. Look at ancient machinery working today as it used to many years ago, drink in an 18th century pub, shops that are as they were over 100 years ago.

Take a ride on a gondola through brums very own network of canals that have been renovated to excellent standards.

Brum is home to numerous casinos, the curry mile too, where you will find over 1 mile of curry restaurants. Take a black country bus tour and get nu,erous plates of faggots and peas, whilst drinking real ale in public houses that were serving the same over 100 or even 200 years ago.

Night clubs in abundance, speedway, dog racing, horse racing all within minutes drive too.

... and thats just off the top of my head!

Alternativelly try London for jellied eels, smelly smoky town thats gone to the dogs.

    Thanks Calkie,

After reading your post Chalkie it reafirms what I was saying or trying to say why "HULL" is far the best choice for the next new venue.

I would like to get away from the Big City scene and the High expenses that go with it.

Lets get to a city thats offers everything to our fast pace industry to a relaxing enviroment were we can all feel at home.

Hull for me takes the biscuit Chalkie and the 1 mile long Curry houses is a big NO NO for me...................what do they put in thise curries and why does Birmingham have the lowest cat of urban cats in the UK .......lol

have a wonderful week and some good healthy food........like Fish & Chips the british meal of the day.............

.. but brum is a decent middle of the road choice.

Not as expensive as London but not as cheap as a bad night in the docks.

Not so sure that all the missing cats are in the curry tbh

We got plenty of fish and chip shops here in brum, my forefathers were purveyors of fine fish n chips too!

Any way, curry took over as the most popular meal in the UK many years ago!

Anyway, i was in a pub on the lights near your ground when it was suddenly under attack from hull fans cos we had gone in there for a beer after the game.

perhaps we could try both, Brum 1 year, Hull another, Edinburgh another maybe?

It would be a welcome break for me to have it in another location Chalkie, even to be in the historic town of York would be wonderful come to think.

I hate London so much and even today when I go on the tube train I am looking around to see who is there etc.............puts the s***S up me when I alone. Even for a Chuck Norris look-a like..............lol

Time for a change for me and to visit new area's of Britain and worldwide makes my job as an affiliate manager more interesting.

Stay sharp on the tables and focused on the financial market....

Neither Hull nor Birmingham have anything to recommend them as destinations - other than Premier League football.

London is very expensive - but at least it's a landing pad for inter-continental flights ... meaning that it's one less flight each way for long haul affiliates.

The only reason Chalkie is suggesting Birmingham is so it's cheaper for him to get there as his home city - and that's probably not a good enough reason for the rest of us.

If you really want a different UK/Ireland conference experience then why not Edinburgh or Cardiff, or even Dublin ... each city has it's merits.

But .. if it is going to be England - then I'd vote for London - ease of access - and I can go see some football mates too.

    ROFL

    Very weak retort!

Birmingham International Airport takes flights from all over the globe, has actually stopped all flights to and from London too because connections are no longer needed!

Typical that all Londoners involved in the thread diss Brum, because they all know that given a chance brum would be preffered by most over London!

Brum is close to me, however, i have offered many reasons!

I would happily prefer Dublin or Edinburgh over London, great citys, but Cardiff? ROFL! Never!

Isnt Birmingham full of Brummies though?

At least in London you can understand what they are saying

Now Malta is the place to have a conference

Beautiful weather, cheap cheap bear, sandy beaches, more casinos per mile than ALL of the UK, cheap food, cheap hotels and already quite a few affiliate managers on the Island, including Affiliate Lounge

It is only 20 odd kilometres long and so EVERYTHING is within reach

International airport serving everyone and just as cheap to get to as London for most and once the hotels have been thrown in even cheaper.

Its relatively crime free and compared to London/Birmingham/Hull its a bloody Utopia.

Loads of Scandanavian woman are here as well as beautiful Maltese woman and of course for the ladies lovely tanned Mediterrean men.

And of course i am here
