I'm with Renee and Gooner. Although there are one or two flights (to Manchester I think) from Bangkok, and as much as I hate London and the cost of going there, I would still prefer London over any other location in the UK simply because it's far more convenient.

I only know London but regarding the conferences I'd appreciate if it would be kept as a location. It's all there and since the GBP dropped in relation to the mighty €uro it has even become affordable

Would prefer Malta or Gibraltar though! By far...

    Gibraltar...really?

The only good thing about Gib is the Morrissons as it sells good vodka very cheap.

So it seems we have settled on Manchester then. Alex January 2011 will be in Manchester! Toot!

Gibraltar?! Even though I live 20 minutes from Gibraltar the place hasn't got the infrastructure to support all those people.

I don't particularly like London as a city but for a conference I think it's perfect - it has everything you need.

    Now Ibiza would be superb

    Totally agree.

Gib would probably sink if a conference landed there. Would that be a bad thing?

London is a great city and perfect location really due to the vast amount of options available to venues, hotels, parties, eateries etc.

Lets stick with London, sod Birmingham and Manchester.

Oh, sorry. I just assumed it were comparable to Malta as quite a few brands are located there as well.

Then I take Gib back and vote for Malta.

Northern monkeys! Hah Says the soppy southerner!

Us northerners have more to us than soppy southerners. We are more hardened to things, although i suppose the italian half of me dont count in that!

Oh and Gibralter is a must keep even if not ideal for a conf!

It is a perfect staging post for our forces of more than 1 kind still.

The monkeys are british and would not be happy to have to move back to blighty.

Even if it is just to piss the spanish off we should keep it!

    Dump??

Gibraltar is a great place, the rock is lovely and the monkeys are even better - although I'm still carrying a scar from an agressive little bastard a few years ago.

That said, it would sink if a gambling conference alighted there.

Personally, I don't feel there's a need for a conference in the UK.

London is really the only place in England that makes sense, and it's too expensive in contrast to other destinations.

I quite like the fact that conferences are happening in developing gaming markets, like Hungary or like Spain and would like to see more of it!

If a major conference wound up in Gibraltar, I will officially shut up shop and go work in porn. The place can't even treat the monkeys well. Plus, there is no party venue to mention, other than crossing the border into Spain.

    Few possible new venues...

    1) iGB Affiliate Cruise around the med (avoiding Gibraltar of course) - fully functional conference on board a cruise liner...
    2) Cape Town Affiliate Conference
    3) Monte Carlo Affiliate Conference
    4) Munich Affiliate Conference
    5) Krakow Affiliate Conference
    6) Reykjavik Affiliate Conference
    7) Algarve Affiliate Conference

Unless conferences are specific to one demographic then the thinking behind them does need to consider global logistical problems.

Renee and TheGooner have both highlighted the problems facing affiliates from Oceania, it cannot also be easy for affiliates from the America's, South AFrica and Asia when travelling to Europe.

Many have mentioned some great locations but major capital cities with a comprehensive infrastrucre that are popular enough to have a competitive market for travel companies thus offering cheapish options is a must all things considered.

If the conference organisors want to attract global affiliates to a conference then they have no option really but to take on board the needs of all affiliates globally.

Now i dont know this as a fact but i would guess that non European affiliates travel to Europe far more for conferences than what Europeans travel outside Europe.

I agree, i kno wthis so well from being in Costa Rica and attending 4 events and it taking around 24 hours to arrive and then i feel like crap for 2 days, in fact on one of the trips to Holland i fell asleep atthe table only after 2 beers and it was 10pm.

So main city's are a must.

London works on so many levels, one level being BP is going to take me to Spurs boozer...

    OUCH!

Anyway, if Gibraltar isn't to your tastes, why not consider a conference in Stoneybridge - I hear they are bidding for the Olympics
