Looks like we might be headed for a tax grab: the UK government is proposing to crack down on offshore sites by requiring all offshore operators to hold a UK Gambling Commission licence.
To be fair, offshore sites do have a competitive advantage to those based in the UK, so I suppose they are trying to level the playing field. However any increased tax will obviously hit returns to players.
Could it mean a lot of people move back from Gibraltar/Malta to the UK?
I'm not really sure what this means for affiliates - it seems likely that we'll be working with fewer brands if the proposals go ahead.
