Default Ultimate Poker to accept first regulated real-money bet in U.S. today

Nevada's the first state off the ground in the race to provide intrastate online gambling, as Ultimate Poker will get the first real-money online poker games running at some point today.

The site is expected to go live at 9 a.m. with limit and no-limit Texas hold ’em poker through single-table cash games, sit-and-go events, and multi-table tournaments.

The poker games will have buy-ins from a few cents to $100.

“This is an important day for the gaming industry,’’ Ultimate Poker Chairman Tom Breitling said Monday. “We’re the first, not only in Nevada but in America, to offer real money poker in a regulated environment.”

The fact that it is Ultimate Bet... Makes me really laugh.

So US online regulation was supposed to protect the punters....
And the first bet is taken by the poker room with arguably the worst history for cheating in the online poker world...

How are Ultimate Bet and Ultimate Poker the same company? Not seeing the connection. But I was up late watching the Red Wings lose to Anaheim, so I might be particularly dense right now. As far as I know, Ultimate Poker is owned and operated by Station Casinos/Fertittas brothers (who own UFC). So I'm not seeing any connection to UB outside of the similarity in brand name.

Actually I was the one being dense.

There is no connection(that I know of) between Ultimate Bet and Ultimate Poker.

How strict is their detection system , to make sure only Nevada residents are using their service ? I'm sure already there's people trying to find a work-around. Tor Project, etc..

    wow...that's all ?

anybody could go register a P.O. Box in Nevada as their address. But i'm guessing when reporting winnings, it gets a lil more complicating.

I commented on a post that ultimate poker made on google plus regarding an affiliate program. They answered and were polite, they directed my to an article which stated that they will EVENTUALLY work with affiliates but want to make headway in other states.

IMO the US poker industry does not need affiliates at this point and will not need affiliates for quite some time. I am not sure how google is working their ad words in Nevada but I am sure as poker expands that poker key phrases will be allowed, but by the brand such as Ultimate Poker and Poker Stars.
