Just receive an email, that VC rebrands to BETVC, at the same time Bodog affiliate program already rebrends to BEttingpartners, is that cool now to "Bet"? maby). what you think about it?

Having worked at VC in the bygone era, this rebrand surprises me somewhat. I can understand from a new market perspective, but the name Victor Chandler does carry plenty of weight in the UK market.

Will be v interesting to see whether or not this change to a more 'obvious' bookmaker name does indeed help them make gains in new markets or if it only causes ripples in their existing ones where the Victor Chandler name carries some weight.

Many thanks for all your feedback on the new brand name. The main reason behind the new brand is to have uniformity across all our territories. The new name will still have all the weight of the Victor Chandler, alongside all the long standing qualities and values that Victor Chandler stands for; such as a pioneering spirit and passion for sport and gaming. Currently the UK is the only territory that we are not BetVictor in therefore we wanted to ensure consistency and instant recognition across all our markets. Also the re-brand will be going live at the same time as the launch of our new site which is another pioneering move forward - the new site promises to provide customers with the most user-friendly experience to date, as well as a comprehensive range of betting options. So we will still have all the great things about Victor Chandler...just BETTER!

I don't understand why you think the "new" name will carry as much weight as the old one since the "old" name is the one that is well known in the UK market.

(In my opinion) If the new name carried all the weight you say it does, then there should be no marketing creatives telling potential players that they can trust the new named property based upon the reputation of the old name property....if the need for any of that material exists than clearly the "old name" carries more weight....

The Victor Chandler brand is solid enough - and well known - but it did suffer a wee bit from fragmentation. Was their website VictorChandler.com? Or VCBet.com? Or .. Or ...

I like BetVictor as a brand name - it's searchable - unique enough to be remembered - and similiar enough to the old brand name to show continuation of the company.

However, the company web properties are still quite confusing with UK players actually ending up at victorchandler.com, German Spanish and Romanian players at betvictor.com, while Greek players end up at BetBeast.com and Israeli's at victorbet.com ... if they choose to play in their local languagues.

And I can't seem to find direct links to these country sites ... Sarah - can you direct me to the appropriate country links in the affiliate system?

The rebrand isn't actually going live in the UK until the new year, which is why the UK version of our site is still Victor Chandler, although there is a link to the new site on the current homepage, but yes it is a bit fragmentated at the moment and will be nice when we can operate under the one brand name.
We have already rebranded in Greece and Israel to BetVictor - again to ensure consistency. If you could pm me your affiliate username I will get the links to these versions of the site emailed over to you.

wish Victor Chandler good luck with it but think it is a bad move myself. After all the money spent advertising the 'Victor Chandler' brand in the UK such as sponsoring Forest etc can't see the point.
when people bet at the 'victor chandler' site subconsciously people feel a more personal 1 to 1 feel as they feel they are actually betting with Victor. the new brand takes away all of that.
Victor Chandler already had a brand so it should of been built on IMHO, not started again. but then again, what do I know

I've thought about it for a few days. I don't really promote VC very much but from a personal point of view, VC is the casino and sportsbook I use the most (poker is too quiet there). My fiance is quite the gambler but she'd never even heard of 'Victor Chandler' until I introduced her to the brand. I really don't think the brand is well known for most people.

I think I'll give a gentle thumbs up to the new name. At least they didn't rename it 'Skrill' - who'd be THAT stupid?

I think the move to a more 'obvious' bookmaker name will be positive one especially in terms of converting new customers, also we will have a massive advertising campaign in the new year to really push the new name and build some recognition. In terms of existing customers, I cannot see the new name putting off the customers we already have betting with us and we still have the personal feel as we still have 'Victor' in the name and I believe he does have something special planned for his ads next year! It would be good to hear everyone's feedback though.

Really unsure as to why so many brands decide to rebrand to be honest. Who makes these types of decisions? I guess long term it will eventually work but short term it can tend to confuse.

The only re-branding I know of that actually worked was the UK tv channel "Dave" which used to be called UKTV, another I imagine that is proof that it works long term is Aviva who were Norwich Union (ok it was a merge but you catch the drift).
