Default Virgin Games sold to Gamesys

Hi all, I'm sure you've heard the news - anyone get the email below? What do you all make of it?

    IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

After 8 years of dedicated services as an online Casino, Bingo and Poker operator, Virgin Games is moving to pastures new in 2013 under new ownership.

From 29th January 2013, Virgin Games will be owned and operated by Gamesys, which through its subsidiaries operates the brands Jackpotjoy, Sun Bingo and Caesars online Casino and Bingo.

As a Virgin Games affiliate, the sale of the Virgin Games business does affect you directly, and it is very important you read and understand the information below to keep earning commission on your existing Virgin Games players.

    AFFILIATE AGREEMENT TERMINATION

At midnight (UK time) on 28th January 2013, all Virgin Games players will be transferred across to Gamesys, and the Virgin Games affiliate program will cease to operate.

This email serves as our official notice that your existing affiliate agreement with Virgin Games Services Ltd will terminate at midnight (UK time) on 28th January 2013.

    PLAYER & AFFILIATE ACCOUNT MIGRATION

Gamesys has pledged to migrate and map your Virgin Games players into their own affiliate program http://www.market-ace.com. As such, from midnight (UK time) on the 28th of January 2013, all your migrated Virgin Games players will fall under the Market-Ace affiliate program terms and conditions.

If you want to keep earning commission on your existing Virgin Games players and do not have an affiliate account at Market-Ace, you will be required to create one. If you already have an affiliate account with Market-Ace, David and his affiliate team will map your Virgin Games players to your affiliate account there.

In any case, Market-Ace has set up the email address virgin@market-ace.com and they will contact you to assist you throughout this process.

    FINAL AFFILIATE COMMISSION PAYMENT

As youíll understand, the mid-month sale of the business will disrupt our usual payment procedure slightly.

Virgin Games Services Ltd will settle all December commissions this week as usual. Commission earned in January will be paid by Virgin games Services Ltd after the 28th of January 2013.

Payment threshold rules will not apply to December and January commission payments, and we will endeavour to pay you however small the amount - provided it falls within the limits set out by your chosen payment method.

It is your responsibility to ensure that we hold the correct Bank, Neteller or Moneybookers details in order to process final commission payments (if any such payment is due).

If by 28th January 2013 we havenít been able to process any final Virgin Games Services affiliate payment due to you because of outdated/incorrect payment details, we will not try again.

Market-Ace will not enter any discussion about this later, the period the earnings relate to is not under their legal remit.

Please make sure your payment details are up to date right now and contact us if they need updating.

    PRODUCTS, TRACKING & CREATIVES

Gamesys is committed to steer Virgin Games to bright new horizons, and they have worked on a new product proposition to accommodate this vision, with a new Virgin Games website due to be unveiled at midnight (UK time) on the 28th January 2013.

Some of our most popular games and products will remain; some will go, some will be added. As such, the new site will not be Virgin Games as youíve learned to promote it, and we invite you to contact Market-Ace at virgin@market-ace.com to find out how best to adjust your marketing activities to the new Virgin Games proposition.

As you realise, the above has immediate consequences on your current advertising activities, and we strongly advise you to take all necessary steps to get your marketing activities ready for 28th January 2013.

With effect from midnight (UK time) on the 28th January 2013, all existing Virgin Games affiliate marketing material will become obsolete in terms of branding, promotional messages, and some products/games advertised too.

More importantly, your current Virgin Games tracking links will stop working. To promote Virgin Games after the 28th January 2013, the Market Ace program will be the place to go to pick up creative and tracking links.

Once again, if you are actively promoting Virgin Games we invite you to start planning right now.

    HELP?

Please contact us at affiliates@virgingames.com if you have any questions about your current affiliate account.

For anything related to players and affiliate account migration, or post 28th January marketing, please get in touch directly with the Market-Ace affiliate team at virgin@market-ace.com.

We are conscious this is a big change for you as an affiliate partner, but we have no doubt Virgin Games as a brand will retain its pulling power and the conversion rates we hope youíve grown to enjoy, with new exciting products and games to come. We therefore invite you to be in touch with Market-Ace now and help write the second chapter of the Virgin Games story.

On a more personal note, I wonít try to hide my emotions as the affiliate program Iíve designed and watched grow for the past 6 years is nearing the end of its life. But Virgin Games Affiliates wouldnít have enjoyed such a successful ride without your support and loyalty; and for this everyone here at Virgin Games Services Ltd would like to thank you.

    Cheers,

    Pierrick Leveque

Not sure how I feel about this - really liked the virgin game brand and aff program as it was. Anyone have any experience with market ace?

And most importantly, do our grubby little mitts get to to keep the 35% rev share for the Virgin players?

It wasn't clear what would happen to the existing deals Virgin affiliates have in place - I hope they will be honoured

    Exactly how I feel.

Only started working with Virgin around 6-7 months ago however they seemed quite solid.

I think this one will probably turn out ok.

Market Ace are a good bunch that pay the correct commissions on time.

Makes me wonder why it it sold..

Perhaps R Branson needs money for another baloon-ride XD

BTW. I already had market ace in my list of programs, and this is a piece of a mail I got from them.

Market-ace will honour your current revenue share percentage in February and March 2013 and moving forwards, we will introduce a new scalable commission structure giving you the chance to earn up to a 45% revenue share.

Looks like market-ace is going to make mapping your players over rather easy.

I just got this email from them.

    Hi lots0,

As I’m sure you are now aware Virgin Games is joining the Market-ace network.

The Market-ace Team have been working hard to try and make things as easy as possible for affiliates old and new and reduce the amount of work you have to do during the switch.

To allow us to map your players correctly when the switch over happens on the 29th January we need you to respond as outlined below by Sunday 13th January.

Good News! We have been able to match your virgin account to an account that already exists within the Market-ace Network.

    Virgin username: xxxxxxxxxx

    Market-ace username: xxxxxxxxxxxxx

If this is correct reply to this email putting YES in the subject line.

If this is wrong reply to this email putting NO in the subject line along with your correct Market-ace account username in the subject line.

If you don’t have a Market-ace account reply to this email putting NO ACCOUNT in the subject line and we will create an account for you using your virgin username and send you the details shortly.
If this works out correctly, it will be the most transparent player mapping for affs I have ever seen.

    So much for hoping...

Anyone else having issues with the virgin "migration" to market ace?

Either players suddenly seem to have stopped playing upon or there's the ever so famous "migration issues that could not be anticipated".

Also, is the 28th a freeroll day or is someone going to report that? Virgin Affiliates went offline on the 29th but there's no way to access those stats.

I have a couple of players playing on the new system so some kind of migration has definitely happened. Not sure how complete it is though.

It is kind of annoying you can't get access to your final stats from the old program - would kind of like to know what's coming for my records. I'm guessing a payment will just show up one day...

Good to hear that you're seeing player activity, as that gives hope that there is a migration of some sort.

Totally agree regarding the annoyance factor, as I like to know what to expect earnings wise - among other things.

Also a smallish twitch note, why do they show "downloads" in stats when clearly Virgin Casino is no-download. Little things like that tend to tilt me.

It is a little weird. And if you look at the banner report I have one line with 0 clicks but 4 downloads - guessing it's to do with the migrations.

    Who knows...

It could be that the players are only showing up in the account once they log into or play on the new site?

TBH though I can see a lot of players being lost through them leaving - the poker rooms gone for starters, the bingo room has switched to gamesys which could easily cause a mass exodus from the site, and a bunch of the slots have been removed from the casino.

It's almost like they don't like money - why not keep everything the same, but add new games alongside or something.

Removing the poker room makes no sense whatsoever.

I posted this on the Virgin thread over at PAL as well so you might have already seen this, but I did some digging around in order to answer some questions I had about the poker site shutting down (more from a players point of view) - figured I'd share in case any of you were also wondering the same things:

So far, the rate of conversion has been within "normal historical" rates for this program. Earnings have fallen sharply, mostly because previous player activity seemingly stopped. FTD player value seems a bit lower as well - but still too early to conclude anything with any degree of confidence.
