    Web 2.0 - The Emperor's New Clothes !!!

Web 2.0 (as it stands at the moment) - facebook, blogging, social networking, digg etc etc etc is a a whole pile of 'Emperor's New Clothes' .

    There, I said it......... I'm a heretic......

From a marketing/traffic generating point of view, it's just a load of bollox and of no real use as a marketing tool. It's a waste of time and a stupid fad.

Show me someone who has had REAL (pounds, shillings and pence - or dollars and cents to our cousins ) benefit from it........

    Discuss.........
    Phil

I'm sure there's thousands of people on Twitter would love to tell you otherwise
    hahaha

I agree. A lot of this stuff is great for people talking to one another, but not so much as a maas marketing tool.

In my opinion, a good percentage of the 'social media marketing' is just self indulgent crap.

There are some things that work, but if we all gave away all our secrets, they wouldn't work so well anymore

No revenue here for me with ANY social sites.. no facebook, myspace, and not even social bookmarking sites.

My work in that area have been a waste of time so far.

I stand corrected then. I don't hear too many stories about affiliates who actually get to monetize social networks. Also, I think that certain niches really lend themselves to social networking. I suspect that poker and bingo are ideal due to the fact that they are more socially orientated.

currently we are working cpa with one of the social networks

the ctr is really good but there is not a single depositor so far

however i believe there is a possibility of a certain change

maybe building groups can work but anyway with social media advertising it takes longer to convert

the social networks are getting bigger and bigger but if you ask me as they grow bigger, people will get fed up with the spam and private messages etc just like previous method, perhaps building targeted groups and social network communities will somehow make the difference

whichbingo maybe i was painting the picture too well, there are downsides to it
and most of them are headaches from the players who deposited but haven't received any points
or scores (depends on the application) and although we are not incharge of that, its our name that's advertise there so we have to help
so supporting these player can be sometimes up to 3 times time consuming then regular players

Could be just like what happened to Yahoo and MSN groups it's full of crap nowadays, doesn't social networks/bookmarks and blog works though converts indirectly.

May be you are not convinced.........I have used social media for traffic and building links as well as brand building and i can say its good. I have not used it for business purpose.

Social media needs time to get the results if you use only getting leads via social media...................but in terms of traffic, quality links and brand building, it gives good results.

Social media is not like that you post your website link and leave the website and except for to get the results.
