I use two:
www.Webhosting.uk.com
www.eukhost.com

Both have live chat for support 24 hours a day and decent up time.
Price is more expensive than the US counterparts, but just ok for the UK.
I've used them for 8 months and one site was down for 5 hours. They responded to all my emails, and got the site back up quickly. Just the fact that they respond via live chat gives me a more secure feeling.

I'd be interested in hearing others experiences.

I use Streamline.net. It's about £35 a year for unlimited space and traffic and a free domain name. I've had very little problem with down time (maybe 2 hours in total over 18 months) and the support desk are very quick at resolving things.

I would recommend 1and1.co.uk, I have been using them for over 4 years, never had any problem, their packages are extremely good values and they offer many many tools within their packages. Their "business pro" package is perfect (for me at least) and costs only... £14.99 per month... Actually they currently have a special offer on "business pro" packages, the first 3 months free...

I gather that 1and1 are very good. If I was to leave my existing host I would probably switch over to them.

I'm with 1and1 as well and have had no problems. Not sure if this is relevant or not but the servers they use aren't located in the UK, they're in Germany.
