Lightbulb Webmaster Enhancements to Places I've Played

We're working hard to make sure our Facebook Places I've Played application helps webmasters earn additional revenue and attract new visitors to their sites.

Over the next few days we are rolling out enhancements that will allow affiliate webmasters to earn 100% of the affiliate revenue for all of the affiliate links they provide up to three levels deep in their referral chain.

When we initially deployed the Places I've Played application a month ago, we had not completed the back-end infrastructure necessary to associate links beyond the first level in a referral chain. That infrastructure is now being put in place as a special benefit for GPWA members.

We will let any webmaster use the Places I've Played application and earn 100% of the revenue on the first level of referrals for the affiliate programs with which they work. GPWA members with approved portal sites will now receive that same 100% benefit for all of the affiliate program links they provide through three levels of referrals. You can find background information that explains the basics of how referrals work in our initial announcement about the Places I've Played application in the thread www.gpwa.org/forum/earn-money-using-social-networking-176291.html.

Another change we have made is to feature webmaster facebook groups and fan pages more prominently on the facebook pages about online gaming sites. In the example given below I've followed a link from Aksana's page on facebook to information about the 7 Sultans Casino. We're now featuring information about her "777 Online Gambling" group on facebook near the top of the page just to the right of the information about the casino. I've drawn a red oval around the area on the page where her group is now featured.

Our hope is that this better placement will drive more traffic to the facebook group and fan pages created by GPWA members. Each GPWA member can set their own group or fan page to promote and can also provide the promotion text that will be used.

To try out the "Places I've Played" application, just follow the link Try Out "Places I've Played."

To start earning affiliate revenue we have a complete back-end system designed just for portal webmasters. Clicks to online gaming sites are sent via links you provide that include your affiliate codes, ensuring you receive credit from the affiliate programs with which you work. Besides earning affiliate revenue, you can also promote your portal website, or a group or fan page you have established for your business on Facebook as shown in the example above where Aksana's facebook group is featured. To access the back-end system to earn affiliate revenue just select the "Places I've Played" option under "My Account" in the top navigation bar on the GPWA website (you must be logged in for this option to appear). There you will find a complete overview of how the system works.

Are all seal sites that are participating in the application added in a rotation or do we need to apply for this service?

You have to provide us with the necessary information to be included. My initial post in this thread contains a link to the thread where the application was initially announced, and that contains an overview of some of the details.

When you are logged into the GPWA website, if you click on the "Placed I've Played" subnavigation item under "My Account" in the top navigation bar you will be presented with an overview of the information you can provide and the way it is used.

Don't aim to be a dummy.... I have Slots of Casinos as a featured site. Is that all I need to do? I guess the mind is going to mush... to many hours online.

The app doesn't seem to be loading properly for me. When I went to install it, the app lagged. I had to stop the load and go to facebook.com. When I looked in my applications the "Places I've Played" app came up, but the app won't open. Do you have any troubleshooting for this?

Thanks!

Well, that is all you have to do to promote your portal site "Slots of Casinos" to the friends of those who you have invited to install the application.

But you do need to invite people to install the application in order for their friends to see your promotion and in order for you to earn affiliate revenue from people you refer using the application.

We've put together a nice three-page article that explains a few easy steps to follow to make use of the Places I've Played application that will be in the upcoming GPWA Times magazine to be distributed in Barcelona. I'll make sure we also publish that article on the web and provide a link to it from here.

In the meantime, I apologize that the current documentation focuses too much on the functionality provided and too little on how to use that functionality to grow your visitors and revenue.

Herofist, sorry for the delay in responding.

There have been some intermittent periods where the application was not available. As far as we know that is not the case any longer, and we have deployed the application in a more robust environment where the application will continue to run even if one of the servers running the application is temporarily unavailable.

Please let me know if you continue to have difficulties. There is a known issue where the map interface sometimes takes longer than it should to load. We are making changes to address that performance issue that arises sometimes. But that should not prevent the application from working, although it may mean that sometimes a page may need to be refreshed if the application does not seem to respond in a reasonable interval. However, please note that facebook is not always really responsive, and most people who use facebook applications know that is the case from time to time and have some level of acceptance that the facebook environment is not always as speedy as everyone would like.

Post Clarification Wanted

In simple words, how can Places I've Played work for webmasters who promote online casinos? What is the first step to take?

Here are the first few steps:
1. Create a Facebook account if you do not yet have one.
2. Create a Facebook group or Fan page for your portal if you do not yet have one.
3. Install Places I've Played Application on your Facebook account.
4. Connect your GPWA ID to your Facebook account (it is not possible to track without knowing which account is yours).
5. Connect your Facebook Group/Fan page to your Places I've Played account.
6. Connect your portal to your Places I've Played account.
7. Enter the affiliate links for the casinos you promote.

1-3 are done in Facebook
4-7 are done in the Places I've Played webmaster management system (to get to the management system, hover over the "My Account" item in the main navigation of GPWA.org which will cause a dropdown menu, then click on the "Places I've Played" option at the top of that dropdown menu).

After this initial configuration the next step is the marketing. Let me know when you're set up and we can go over some steps for aspect of things as well.

I couldn't bother about the application for months because of lack of time. Today I created, as you know, a Facebook Group and linked it to my Places I've Played account. However, what puzzles me is that I don't see the Places I've Played application on the Group page. So the group members can't see the application.

I also don't understand how someone using my campaign link can create his own installation because this link will bring that person directly to my Places I've Played application.

I think I am missing something which is fundamental.

After this point has been cleared, I would like some advice about the marketing.
