At what age did you start using computers?

    Hello,

Personally, I've started using computers when I was 12 years old.
I went to a small public school and they could not afford to
purchase computers for all students. So, we have a computer
class once a week and we need it to take turns to use 2 computers
that were available for the whole class.

I remember designing my own keyboard with a cardboard so at least
when I got my turn to use the computer I can type fast.

At what age did you start using computers?

    Cheers,

I started using computers when i was 12 too, only thing is that was 34 years ago for me!

We had to fill in the holes on computer cards with pencils and use binary!

Spent 6 months, 2 hrs a night after school 5 days a week inputting a program into the school computer and then all of a sudden the dam thing kept crashing.

When teacher looked at the issue he had to call his contacts in the US only to find out that the computer was not big enough to hold the program! Grrrrrr

Guess what the program was ...

it was a game btw ...

I think I was 29 when I had my first indirect contact with computer via computer punch cards which were used those days, 45 years ago, for writing software programs. My first personal computer was a LISA, the fore-runner of MAC around 1982.

I started using a computer in grade3 and it was called a PET computer. It loaded programs with a tape deck and its memory was about 10 pages worth of words.

    Until we meet again.

I think I first used a computer when I was 9 years old.. I remember playing the ninja turtles game on it. Seems so sad now that I think about it but it was the bomb back then.

Hmm.. I think I was about 10 when I first used a computer, I also went to a really small school out in the country and we had to race each other to the computers or you'd miss out on having a go.

Actually, in High School we were made do typing lessons - on electric typewriters lol

LOL. I had one of those ZX Spectrums too.

And when i was about 9 or ten I got a PC as a gift.

XT with 640KB (or 64KB, I can't remember)RAM and 20MB hard drive. My Blackberry has more computing power than that thing had, but it was still great fun and uber fascinating.

Haha. I remember the days that you had to load windows off about 30 floppy discs.

I was around 15 when I got my hands on my first PC, then later I bought myself a MAC because back then I was into computor graphics.

The good old days when working on a computor was fun, now its just a tool for work..........no time for games etc

I was 11 when I persuaded my Dad to buy me a Dragon 32. I thought it was the best thing ever and was on it night and day. I believe it cost just under £200 which was a hell of a lot of money back in 1983.

I used to tinker with programming making useless little programs that didn't do much but I was amazed that I could control what was on screen. From there I kept learning and when I was 14 I managed to get 2 games published!

They were only text adventure games but these types of games were incredibly popular way back then.

    Ah, the good ol' days!!

Still got the Dragon 32 as well and it still works last time I checked.

    Hello,

    Great to hear your stories.

It seems that majority of us started at age 8, 9, 12, 13 and other ones a bit later.

These days, toodlers are already using computers to learn the alphabet, numbers, etc.

My son who is now 3 has learned how to spell and already searching on google for thomas the train. It scares me!

    Cheers,
