That cracked me up, but sadly, it's so true in most cases.

Partner's 17 year old son. Great marks at school, but has this ever present self-entittlement attitude. Offered to show him the business, to earn some dollars, instead of a busting his rump in part-time job at a supermarket, while attending university.

Very good post. I didn't even expect this thread to get so popular even though I knew that it is very important.

We should also have more people trading here (backlinks, content, crypto, programming/freelancing etc). Right now there are very few looking for/offering something, this has to be improved ASAP.

This chatter is informative, constructive and funny as hell.
    "...express train to ****offville" LOL!

The view on young people today, "ADHD-ish" very True.

Gone are the days of "CrackBerry BBM-ing".

The shift is more habitual watching clips on IG, Snapchat and Twitch.

News articles are a headline + picture + 3 sentences = SEO click bait

It reads like cross of a tweet and a kids picture book.

Time spent reading on social media is blink of the headline and a laugh at the comments.

How does one convert this kind of traffic??

If you are looking for a SEO strategy this is possibly where it's at.

I think we're just showing our age when we criticize the youth of today. I remember when my Grandparents thought their kids generation of rock 'n roll, hippies, weed, racial integration and free love was the end of the world?

Every generation has their successes and failures and you can't paint all youngsters with the same brush.

Just a quick post this weekend to say I appreciate the suggestions made in this thread (and of course, the humor too). It is a holiday weekend for us in the states now, and Anthony is also went away on holiday starting this past Thursday for a few days. We will be thinking about and coming up with ideas for changes that make sense based on the posts in this thread.

    That's a fair statement...
However these days, unlike generations before them, not all but most, seem totally void of respect for others. It's about me, me, me

Unfortunately like most decent things, scammers ruined it and some members got burnt. Holding Private Membership these days, isn't (IMHO) a badge of trustworthiness, as it once was. Yet marketplace type forums here, still use it as a pass-key to post services etc., etc., etc.

If one doesn't have Private Membership, then it's a 100 post count minimum.

Though given the above, IMO 100 post minimum should be the gatekeeper for everyone.

(speaking of... http://www.gpwa.org/forum/other-marketing-offers.html is supposed to moderated, but seems it's not, cause there are plenty of posts from members who aren't Private, and who don't have a 100 post count). I'd hate to see people burnt

The other marketing offers forum is not strictly limited to member with 100 posts to respond to posts of offers
This forum is for marketing offers from companies other than casinos. YOU MUST be a GPWA Private Member, a Sponsor Affiliate Program or have >100 posts to create a thread in this forum. It is moderated
Threads can and will be moved when seen that do not follow the criteria, I apologize if we missed any.

Threads that the end product is predominantly advertising/link related (such as guest posts or content with a link back from sellers site) are usually moved to the Link Exchange thread

You can always add a members only chat room but that would present its own set of issues and problems, and might not be worth it. I thought I'd mention the idea anyway.

Personally, I like how AGD has up and down arrows throughout all of its pages that allow the user to very quickly navigate up or down by simply clicking once on the arrows, which would save a lot of time and involves less effort. This feature would also be ideal for GPWA.

I'm probably part of the problem because a lot of my posts here are the weekly promos, but the reason I'm posting them here is because people have asked for it. I will be reevaluating whether the time it takes to post those things is worth it moving forward.

I post threads with news about our program, which get little to no response at all. As Beacon said, a thread about what colour socks youre wearing gets more traction. If people thanked the post, at least I'd know it was useful, but the lack of any kind of response makes me think people don't need it.

So then my question is, what are sponsor programs paying for?
Someone mentioned the aff mgrs don't post because we just get flack. I guess paying for that is kinda silly huh?

Someone mentioned people don't post because it's easier to just do a google search.
I feel like that is probably accurate, HOWEVER someone may have found a better way and posting about it, maybe even referencing what you've found saying "is this the best way" could start a discussion. There is a saying something along the lines of, get a lazy person to do a job and they will find the quickest way to do it. That saying should be put to this forum. I'm not calling anyone lazy, but someone who really doesn't want to do a job the long way will find a better way to do it.

The spam (which ironically I seem to be replying to with this post) to put it bluntly, is ******* annoying. I wish the ignore feature just removed the post so you couldn't see it at all. As it stands now there is still a blind post there where you can click a link to view the whole post. So you know there is a post there. I'd rather not see the post at all. Sometimes I think maybe this will be worth reading, so I click to view and realise it was a waste of my time. Maybe the answer is to just get rid of signatures for everyone, and each member has to "apply" to be able to have a signature when they prove their posts are quality. There's a saying in life I stick to - you teach others how to treat you. Apply it to this forum - you let this continue and it will be known as acceptable. Dilutes the forums value. I don't actually care if anyone disagrees with me on that. I've been here for 14 years. There's a reason I'm still here and it's not because I post garbage (not all the time anyway). I have a coding background. My knowledge used to get used a lot, not so much anymore. I used to LOVE coming here and nerding out. Those days seem to be very few and far between.

I've just come back from a holiday in Hawaii where I did not have to wear socks, to Sydney where it is 16 degrees today and I am still refusing to wear socks. My feet are cold and I'm annoyed. So I will be going back to work now.
Sorry (not sorry) if I offended anyone. Kthxbai

Not sure what feedback to provide to improve however I have found the forum and the contributors very informative, useful and at times humorous. This has been a great resource so far.

    Renee,
I think program reps posting their promos is a huge help to a portion of affiliates. It wouldn't hurt I guess if more members thanked the posts at times, and that is preferred and far better then a bunch of thank you type posts, that add nothing additional to the thread.

Having the proms all in one spot, such as how you and a few other reps do it, I think is extremely helpful as it allows an affiliate at almost any time to simply visit the program's forum, and see what bonus or other promotions are active for any given time frame, and I would think that saves a lot of answering the same question dozens of times type emails and pm's

As for "nerding out"? One of the hot topics in recent weeks has been geolocation and handling that on affiliate sites, so if you have helped some of your affiliates with that, I could certainly see that as a topic with feedback from coders being very helpful.

I have read up a little bit in recent weeks about the ignore feature, and there are additional plugins that might possibly be helpful, as an example one might actually also block quotes of those on ignore list in subsequent posts, but I will try to remember to look for any that might handle additional suggestions that you have made. We have a number of custom coded hacks and plugins as well as template changes that just dropping new plugins in the backend is something that can be done and everything has to be carefully studied and tested, but suggestion threads like this are very helpful.
